The makings of us
Chapter 1
Until the age of 16/17 I had few emotions about Draco Malfoy. He wasn’t in my year, he wasn’t in my house and he was loathed by pretty much every Gryffindor there was. He was cocky, arrogant and pretty much a prat. My uncle liked him although I couldn’t see why. My reasoning was that he didn’t want to get into the Malfoy bad books. Because there was a lot that could go wrong. When I helped out as part of the Inquisitorial Squad Draco was inevitably one of the ring leaders. I had to force a smile on my face. He was in effect someone that from the age of 12 I just had to “put up with”. I couldn’t really keep away from him, my best friends were some of the ones he liked to tease most, and it isn’t like it is a huge school. Anyway, that is more about Draco, I have written about that already.
The reason we became friends was because I helped him to repair the vanishing cabinet in the Room of Requirements. It was our job, our task. In all honesty it didn’t take that long to repair. It was getting the parts and having the time to do it that was the problem. We used to go there, not because I had to repair something but because everything was becoming too much. We were both living a life filled with an increasing amount of pressure and anxiety. Draco’s I admit was far greater than mine but the need for companionship between the two of us was the same. I felt as though I could spread my burden, and I understood the one he was carrying.
You may think that all that time alone in the Room of Requirements working on the vanishing cabinet was leading to a greater relationship, something that resembled boyfriend and girlfriend. You’d be wrong. It was never like that. People have a way of twisting things like that, they always have. From one silly comment. How did we become best friends? We talked. We listened. We cried, got angry. We let it out and we comforted each other.
I already had my Weasley brothers but I forever count Draco as a brother. We came from the same types of families. If my parents had survived, I imagine that I would have been brought up in the same way as Draco. It was the becoming of the best of friends that we are now. We still grew up together, we still lived a very different life to many other people and he is my BEST FRIEND.
If you read this Draco. You better write about me ;D
