Soem seem to think

It's objects that define them.

The more they have,

The higher they climb the social stem.

To them it's about the price tag.

Some do settle for appearance, telling a white lie.

Many don't accept it'll all disappear,

They can't take it with when they die.

That fact is something they ignore,

So they hold on tight

To what makes them feel notable,

Hold on until their knuckles turn white.

I hold hope in the people

That see past all the flashy things.

To those who can really see

All the happiness a simple life can bring.

I know what's important,

I know what I need.

Why burden myself with useless treasures,

And fill myself up with greed?
