We got nerve ;)

Chapter 1
I grew up as an only child. No brothers, no sisters. But I have learnt from others what it is like to live and grow up with siblings. I have learnt the importance of keeping ties with them even though they get annoying. My father also had no siblings, that I know of, not that made themselves known to me. Perhaps I was hidden from them perhaps they were not magical. I was to live in a world that was dominated by magical people.

My mother (Severina Snape) had a brother (Severus Snape)

My “adopted” family, because Molly Weasley adopted everyone who didn’t have a fully functioning family, had many many children. To start there was Bill, then Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron & Ginny. They took me in, even before I started Hogwarts, I was friends with them from the age of nine. I ended up with five older brothers, one younger brother and a little sister. They treated me as one of their own.

When you arrive at Hogwarts you are told that the people in your house are your family and that is true but many siblings, even twins get separated into different houses. My Gryffindor family were great.

One person, not a Gryffindor but a Hufflepuff that was like a sister to me was Nymphadora Tonks. When you have a person with the same magical abilities as you that understands you, sometimes that can be just as important as a blood sister. We were ability sisters. Metamorphmagus sisters. She was brilliant.

Her mother was an example of how the bonds of sistership can break. She was Andromeda Tonks née Black, older sister of Narcissa Malfoy née Black (a good friend and mother figure to me) and younger sister to Bellatrix Lestrange née Black (my half-sister’s mother). She was rejected by most of her Pure-Blood family because she fell in love with a muggle-born wizard named Ted Tonks.

Hagrid found out that he had a half-brother named Grawp on his giantess mother’s side in 1996 and I found out that I had a half-sister named Delphini on my father’s side in 1998.

I guess what I want to say is that there are all sorts of siblings. There are the ones you grow up with, the ones you don’t, the ones you really love and the ones you feel you should. None have a right or wrong answer all are in between.

Ginny used to say – growing up with Fred and George you start thinking anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve. She was right. Sometimes it is an advantage sometimes a disadvantage. I have always felt that my siblings are the ones close to me, there for me.
