Chapter 4

His newest project was done. Jaykob had used 1824 as his background and the dress Elizabeth had been wearing for what the girl in his drawing was wearing. Not entirely sure if he would use this as this month's project Jaykob put the large page in a  special section of his closet.

Nathin was still in the shower, so Jaykob and Mychel couldn't head off to school yet. Noise drifted through the open door leading to the garage and Jaykob knew that's where he would find Mychel. When Jaykob stepped into the garage, Mychel was setting out his tools. He went over to the car and placed his hand on the hood and closed his eyes, using his power.

"Are you really going to get greasy before we even go to school?" inquired Jaykob.

"Nah," answered Mychel. "I just wanted to know what the problem was so I could get right to work once we get home. Why, what's up?"

"Just killing time until Nathin is ready."

Mychel raised an eyebrow. "Hand me that wrench, will you?"

"Thought you weren't working." Jaykob reached over and grabbed the wrench. He walked over and handed it to Mychel.

"I'm not. Now, tell me why you went to see Johnathon and Elizabeth."

"How did you...?" Jaykob smacked himself in the forehead. He had brushed his hand against his brother's when he had handed over the wrench, he had allowed Mychel to touch him.

   "I can't believe I fell for that, I haven't in years."

"I'm just that good. So how are they?"

"They're okay, Elizabeth is a little sad."

"As usual when you leave, correct?"

Jaykob nodded. "I went to 1824 and she is still a few years away from meeting Benjamin."

"Then why don't you just visit her in the years after she has met him and they're together?"

"I tried that once. She seemed kind of torn and not too happy that Ben and I were together in the same place. I know how she feels about me-"

   "And you feel that same."

   "But... I don't know."

   "Yes you do."

   "Excuse me?"

   "Speaking of Lynndziey Fox-"

   "Who was speaking of her?"

"Why didn't you tell us that the Fox's were back in town? And don't try pretending that you didn't know, I know you saw her yesterday."

Jaykob avoided Mychel's gaze and looked down at his feet instead, shrugging. "I didn't think that it was that important."

"What's going on in here?" asked Nathin, appearing in the doorway.

   "Nothing much. Ready?"

The brothers got into the car and drove to school. Only a few minutes lay between them until class started, so each of them just went to their first hours. When Jaykob walked into Art, the teacher came up to him, visibly excited.

"Jaykob, I have some awesome news," she exclaimed.

"Yeah, I can see that you're about to burst," he joked. "What is it?"

"In this quarter's art show, every student must submit a piece of art work."

"As always. I've been at this school for four years now, I know. Now, what's so exciting?"

"For the past three years, all twelve art shows, your work has been the favorite of many. So, this time around, you'll be having your very own section."

   His eye lit up. "What?"

"Yes! There will be an entire section dedicated to Jaykob Blood art."

"No way! This is so cool!"

'I know. Now, you don't have to, but new art would be great. Of course, if you don't want to, then you can recycle some of your older stuff."

"No, no, I want to have all new stuff."

This was the greatest thing that had happened to Jaykob in his entire life. And now that Lynndziey had moved back to town, he would be set for the art show. Of course, he wouldn't enter  nothing but things of her, maybe only a few. And he should probably get her okay first, since people would be able to recognize her now that she was going to school with them.

When he, Nathin, and Mychel met up again, Jaykob told them the good news and they couldn't be happier. They even gave him the idea to use his time traveling ability to get more ideas for waht he could enter into the art show.

"I think Elizabeth would absolutely love for you to draw her," stated Mychel. "Sure, she wouldn't know it was for an art show, but she would practically die because you'd be using her for your work."

Jaykob couldn't help but agree, he knew how she would react if he proposed this idea to her. And in fact, it would make the art even better because he could only use what the 1800s provided in order to draw her. That night he got ready, coming up with exactly what to say when he showed up, and how he could leave once his drawing was complete. As he paced his room thinking, he got a flash of Titanic, of the scene where Jack was drawing Rose. Jaykob wouldn't draw Elizbeth naked, he'd absolutely refuse, but he couldn't shake the scene.

Once he had told himself that he was ready, and that there was really no reason to prolong it, he closed his eyes and concentrated. When he opened them up once more, he was standing on an abandoned street (to avoid being seen just appearing out of nowhere) a few blocked from the Morris mansion. He made his way to the house after stopping to buy things to draw with. Elizabeth opened up the door, her facing lighting up at the sight of him. As always.

"Come in, come in," she beckoned, allowing him to pass. "I did not expect to see you so soon. This is a lovely surprise."

Jaykob smiled and said, "Yes, I will be in town for the next few days."

"Where are you staying? You know you are welcome here."

"Thank you, but I have some family in town and I will be staying with them."

"Alright. Did you come to see Johnathon? He left but a few minutes ago and will not be returning until late."

"I actually came to see you. I was wondering if you would not mind me drawing you, so that I may carry you with me while on my travels."

Just as he and his brothers predicted, she was ecstatic. A smile spread across her lips and a twinkle appeared in hr eyes.

"Not at all," she said. "Just tell me what to do."

"Can you it by the fireplace and read?"

   "Of course."

Elizabeth went over by the fireplace and did as he had asked of her. Though she wasn't actually reading because flipping the pages would ruin the drawing, she looked natural, as if she weren't posed and the love of her life (until she met the man she was truly meant to be with) was about to draw her. The process didn't take long, Jaykob was skilled enough to be faster than a beginner and still have it looked very well put together. When he was done, he turned it around and showed it to Elizabeth, who loved it.

"You truly have a gift, William," she complimented. "I wish I could do what you are able."

"A thousand thanks," replied Jaykob, bowing slightly.

"Where did you learn such a talent?"

   "Self taught."

   "Even more remarkable."

She looked up at him, peering into his eyes. Soon he noticed that she was leaning forward. Jaykob couldn't help it and found himself leaning towards her. He tried to tell himself it was just the atmosphere, the moment he himself had created by his actions. But in all truth, he did feel an attraction to her, just as many men will in her future and had in her past.

Their lips met and he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as she put her arms around his neck and ran a hand through his hair. Jaykob had a very good wig, specially made to never come off without help from the maker, who was a fellow powered teen. Since he had dyed his hair a deep purple, he had to have a wig for when he traveled into the past. This wig felt and looked like real hair, though it wasn't, so Elizabeth was unable to tell that it was a fake.
