They Grow on You
Chapter 5
The eight friends were like no other, they were unique. Each friend was their own person and because of that, society would never accept them...
The Ravenclaws
"Hi, who are you?" Eloise kindly asked another first year Ravenclaw.
"I'm Lily Moon."
"I'm Eloise and these idiots are my close friends," she gestured towards the boys. Lebron had chocolate milk streaming out of his nose, Evan was snorting into his gravy and James was tearing up an uno card. Lily pulled a face but waved at them. Lebron stuck his thumbs up in greeting. "They grow on you..."
"I'll take your word for it."
The two girls giggled. Evan scowled at them.
Lucas
"Hello, you must be Lucas."
Nod.
"I recall you were only average at herbology last year."
Nod.
"Why are you interning?"
"Because I've improved and want others to learn how to as well."
"Very well. Welcome to the herbology team."
Lucas knew, at that moment, that this year was going to be great.
Rhianna
"As one of my best students, I am very excited to have you on this year," Professor McGonagall was jabbering on to Rhianna. "I think you will make a great addition. Usually I don't like interns to grade work but with your skills I trust you."
"Thank you, mis- Professor but I believe you are mistaken, I was not very intelligent at all, I was terrible."
Rhianna was beet red at the compliment but was sure it was a lie. Rhianna always underestimated herself.
"You underestimate yourself," the professor snapped. " You were the most advanced in my class. To say otherwise would be lying. Also, I'm no longer your professor, you may call me Minerva."
Rhianna nodded slightly, using her hair to shield her glowing face. Truth be told, Rhianna should have known she was the best. She always completed practicals first and got the highest scores on exams, how had she not realised before? Maybe this year would be a good one.
Ella
"You must promise to do exactly as I say."
"I promise, Dolores," Ella said cheekily. The last words were dripping with sarcasm. It would seem, Miss Toad does not understand sarcasm though.
"Good, you know how to address me, many do not, you see? Now, I will leave you in charge of detentions, something wrong my dear?"
Ella had pulled a horrified face, but she quickly regained composure, she apologised sweetly, "Sorry, someone walked over my grave."
"As I was saying, you will be in charge of detentions and lesson planning."
"But, Dolores, I thought the Minister wanted it only from the book?"
Umbridge's toad face spread into a delighted grin, "I was testing you, my dear, if you did not know this I would have to relieve you of your duties."
Ella inwardly grimaced. This was going to be a long year.
Jocelyn
"I will not need help. I don't know why you're here," Snape droned.
"Professor Dumbledore required-"
Snape cut her off, "Do not interrupt me, girl. But as I have you, you will prepare the ingredients and such before the lessons. Are you capable of such a task?"
"Yes."
"Yes, sir."
Suddenly, Jocelyn remembered a line that Ella always laughed about, "There's no need to call me sir professor."
Snape's hand reached over and slapped the girl in the face. Jocelyn's mouth opened in shock.
"Less of the cheek, girl."
This year was going to be tough.
