Friends In A Fairytale

Chapter 3

My
sister has a completely different story. She is now 18 and in
college.
I
am now 14. I realize that I was not dreaming about the tunnel because
he was
there.
The man who escaped hell, a murderer, and a monster that escaped
from
prison
and now is after me. That man is...my father. He wants to hurt me
again.
But
this time I have friends. After my mother died and my father was put
into
prison
my aunt took me and my sister in. She lived in a complete and
utter
different
district which meant I had to move. Today is my first day of
school
for
this year. I walk through the big lobby doors down the filled
hallways,
peeking
through classrooms, and looking for my locker. It has been 7 years
at
that
school and I only had three friends. My newest friend is probably my
best
friend.
I was sitting at the blue, round table outside during lunch one
day,
that
I always sat at. I was scribbling like crazy in my...special journal,
when
a
girl put her square, pale tray on the table and sat down graciously
but I had
not
noticed. I had put my Doctor Who pen down on the page and closed the
journal
to
take a small bite out of my lettuce, cheese and cucumber sandwich.
That's
when
I noticed her. I jumped a little with surprise when I saw her. She
did not
react
back; she just kept drinking her apple juice. She looked up at me and
then
down
at my journal.

”Lillie's...special...journal,”She
slowly read out loud, turning her head to try and read the
cover.
I
put my hand over it before she could finish reading.

”Sorry,
was that too personal...Lillie?” She asked looking away, then
looking back.

”My
name isn't Lillie...it's Sapphire.” I replied slowly and
shyly.

”Oh,
then who is Lillie?” She asked embarrassed. I look away from
her,
and
then remember what my aunt and therapist said so I breathed out a
heavy
sigh.

”Lillie
is my mother.” I say quickly to get it over with.

”Then
why do you have your mothers special journal?” She asked
tilting
her
head slightly like a dog. I sigh because that was what I was afraid
of.

”When
she died, in her will she gave me her journal to write to her,” Her
mother died
when
she was also young so she wrote letters to her mother in the journal.
In
her
will she said if I ever wanted to talk to her, I could by writing to
her.
It's
more of a symbolic and personal thing.

“But
yeah... ” it was surprisingly how easy it was to tell her
this.

”My
name is Flora.” She said while smiling.

From
then on Flora would always sit next to me and we chitter and
chatter
like
birds. When I talk about my parents, it was so easy to. She was
better than
my
therapist. She would always come over my house on Fridays and leave
on
Saturday.
We had lots of interests and my two other friends liked her. My
other
two
friends, Clara and David got along with Flora well. We love making
music
videos,
movies, documentaries, film, photography and writing. When it's
just
Flora
and I, we love playing pretend. We lose ourselves back into our
childhood.
We
were outside lying on our backs, next to each other, under the bright
stars
in
the dark sky.

”So
what about your aunt,” Flora asked me this morning.

”What
about her? I told you about Aunt Emma before haven't I?” I
asked
Flora,
while picking up my eyebrows.

”Yeah
a little but you never told a story of her. You know how when
you
talk
about people close to you, you say their age, name and stuff like
that, but
when
you describe them you make them look like heroes. Some stories are
funny,
but
some are sad. You never told a story of Emma.” She said waving her
arms all
around.

”Oh...”I
say, picking my eyebrows up. Not knowing how to respond.

”Well
my aunt is my mom's sister. Aunt Emma would always talk about all
the
adventures she and my mom would have. How normal shadows from the
stars
appear
to be monsters chasing them.” My heart started to pound and race. I
was
getting
really excited.

”My
aunt would pretend to be the doctor and my mom would be
the
companion.
My favorite was the story when they were on an adventure and my
mom
met
Dave.” I sighed closing my eyes slowly.

”They
were running through the deep scraps of the daleks on the
planet
dalek
asylum. Daleks were like bug eyed robots who only wanted to kill
and
exterminate
all species that aren't daleks. Running with the power of
adrenalin,
from
the murderous daleks they just kept going and going. After the
doctor, or
my
aunt, rescued her faithful companion they starred to run because the
daleks
were
after them, my mom ran into a cute, tall, blond, blue eyed boy.” I
smiled
with
my eyes still closed. Flora turned her head toward me and elbowed
me
lightly.
My eyes flash open and I turn my head toward her.

”Who
is Dave? I thought your father's name was Mike.” She asked
me.

”Dave
is my mom's best friend. They went out once but they ended it
because
it was weird. They loved to hangout and go on adventures that
aren't
romantic.
It got awkward for them. My granddaddy arranged my mom's marriage
with
Mike.”
I turned away fast, starring up into the stars.

”Dave
married Aunty Emma because he promised my mother that he would
always
be there for my sister and me. My mom always knew my dad would hurt
her
someday
protecting us so she asked Dave to watch over us if such an event
would
occur.
After my mother died Dave told me that he could never, would ever
love
any
one again, so he tried marrying my aunt. She used to like him when
they were
kids
but knowing my mom and Dave loved each other, she knew he would never
love
her.
Over time she grew over him. Sadly, she said no.”

I
kept looking at the shining stars above me as I spoke. Flora gazed
toward me; you could
see
the stars dancing in her eyes graciously.
