Dorm
Chapter 2
The girl’s dorms are on the left. Located via staircases at the back of the common room. Our room had five beds in it and I shared it with various different people throughout my time at Hogwarts. Including Leanne Storm, Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson, Hermione Granger & Alicia Spinnet to name but a few.
Each room had five large, yet single, beds in them, each in a four poster style fashion and with curtains that you could pull across if you wanted to. Each person also has a wooden bedside cabinet and most keep their trunk at the bottom of the bed. Bathrooms are on each level so you don’t need to go far and there is a window in each room, which for me, too the most getting used to of all. There was a rack as well for people to hang things on and a cabinet that most girls used for makeup.
Prefects had Heads of houses had a different room which is just for two people at a time. It is the most comfortable room in the dormitory and a pleasure when you are issued it. I slept there in 1994/95 when I was a Prefect and in 1996/97 when I became Head Girl. This has a double bed instead of the single bed. That others have.
Everybody else liked to decorate their area. Mine was the least decorated. Most would have pictures of Quidditch players or family members. I didn’t much. I was given a photo of my mother and Cedric gave me a frame to put it in. I had a picture of Cedric and I at the Quidditch world cup and that was it. I had my pink rabbit with me, and used to play at transfiguring the ceiling of my four poster so that it looked like a tree or the night sky. It was my place to be messy. Other people liked their area neat but mine was never neat. Sweets were often on my bed, given by Fred & George. At a certain time I did have a picture of my uncle on my cabinet and clippings from the Daily Prophet about Voldemort... I'm not sure how the others felt about that but it made me feel better being able to put a face to a name, rather than just he-who-must-not-be-named. I found a few younger ones of him too. I enjoyed looking at those the most. I wouldn't say I decorated though. I just held on to things that meant something to me.
