Common Room
Chapter 1
When I first arrived in the Gryffindor I was, like everyone else, young, tired and a little nervous of getting into my new room. I had spent the last few years in the dungeons so living in a tower was very different to me. You enter through the portrait of the Fat Lady after having given a password, hopefully she is awake and you can remember what it is.
The common room has all the usual castle stone that you usually expect but is also decorated with a few tapestries which I always felt soften the stone of the walls and add colour to a grey surrounding. There are various portraits that hang around the common room and a large fire place. This is a fire place that I became particularly fond of when I found entrances along different passage ways. There are of course many, many areas for students to sit down, do homework etc… all in a red/brown sort of colour scheme. During my first year I didn’t spend much time in my dorm but decided to sleep in the common room in front of the fire-place. I don’t know why I found this to be a more suitable spot but it seems to have suited me just fine. I remember most the large carpet in there that was colourful. Used to like to charm the patterns on it.
