Trans Artist

Harper has always been different. He's known this for almost as long as he can remember, and he's always been nervous around others, unsure of how they'd react. It doesn't help that the church girl is constantly berating him and his best friend, or that his parents are always trying to make him more "normal". He just wants to live his life. The way he wants to.

2. Let's Cut It

Chapter 2
I slam my locker shut, finally done changing. I tug on the white shirt, trying to make it a little more fitting. Alex pokes her head in from around the corner, her locker on the opposite side of mine. “You done?”
I nod. “Yeah. I just wish I could wear a shirt that wasn’t so tight…” I grumble, pulling on the shirt again. A few girls left in the locker room snicker, and I glare at them. Of course it doesn’t really do anything.
“Well, it is what it is. I know!” Alex’s eyes suddenly lit up and she gave me a big smile. “How about we go shopping this weekend? We can get you more fitting clothes!”
“Really?!” I ask, staring at her. “You’d do that with me?!”
“Of course, Harper. I’m your best friend! Now come on. We don’t want Mr. Brown mad at us.” Alex placed her arms around my shoulder and we headed to the gym together.

“On your left Elizabeth!” one of the girls on my team called. I jumped to the side, whacking the volleyball down. The girl on the opposite team struggles to hit the ball back to my side. Right as she’s about to hit it, the whistle blows, the ball dropping to the ground.
“That’s time!” Mr. Brown said, looking up from his clipboard. “Team 5 wins this round. Miss Emily, please try to pay a little more attention to the ball.” he said. The girl on the opposite team hunches over on herself as the rest of her team glares at her and walks away.
I turn and run over to where Alex was standing, her foot on the wall behind her. She handed me one of the water bottles at her feet. “That seemed intense.” She remarked as I opened the water.
“Yeah. I just took my anger out on the ball instead of turning and snapping at people around me,” I mumbled as I drank. Alex nodded, taking a sip from her water as well. “That’s good. But that might explain why that poor ball looks like it’s on its last limbs there.” She pointed at the ball that Mr. Brown was holding. It was tattered and looked deflated, and he was trying to figure out why.
I shrugged. “It’s a ball. Probably been here as long as the school has. I’m surprised it’s still being used.” Alex smiled, laughing.
“Well, the ball is not in a playing condition, and we don’t have any other balls, so we’re gonna have to cut this class short. Everyone back to the locker rooms!”

“So, Harper,” Alex said as she leaned against the lockers. I looked at her, slipping my shirt off. “Yeah?”
“I hear something special is coming up…” she said teasingly. I knew what she was getting at, but I pretended not to know.
“Oh, you mean that dumb dinner my parents are dragging me to? Why is that counted special?”
She shook her head. “Not that, silly! Something else is coming up!”
“Your birthday was last month, Alex. Not this month.”
“Harper!”
“Fine. So?”
“Soooo….I was thinking maybe we could go and get some ice cream or something this weekend…”
“This weekend? But that’s-”
“HARPER!”
“Fine!” At this point, I could barely control my laughter. “We won’t probably be able to go on Saturday. Maybe Sunday?”
“Sure, that’s totally fine with me!” She gave me a thumbs up as I slipped on my regular shirt and hoodie. I closed my locker, my gym clothes in the bag I brought. I slung it over my shoulder, pushing my hair out of the way. I noticed Alex staring at me.
“What?”
“Let’s cut it.”

Hey, everyone! I wanna thank you all for reading this! This section is gonna get repetative, but I'll also be going over things in that chapter! Such as the fact I changed Mr. Owens to Mr. Brown cause I realized I already had Mr. Owen as another teacher. So sorry about that! Thanks anyway! *Chibi Harper Bowing*
