Social Behaviours: How Do They Interact? Parii

Chapter 4

Mating Season and Inter-breed reproduction:

Mating season is, before the romantic part, a violent and sometime deadly ritual. Only the strongest are allowed to reproduce. Even if ruled by a king, the other males have their right to reproduce. And so, to be sure the descendants will be strong, the fights between males are usually to death, unless one capitulate.

Now something that is mostly fascinating is the ability that Merpeoples have to be able to breed with humans, wether they are Muggles or Wizards. Only males are know to be able such amazing capacity but they are not known to be the best fathers. Mostly violent, rare are those with the paternal fiber for the mother are mostly the ones taking care of the children.
Thos born under the fusion of a Merfolk and a human are known to have more facility to learn Mermish tho it is unsure. what is also unsure is if females can reproduce with humans or if they can not. More studies have to be done.

Female merfolks also have a special ability called "Protogyny". By this process, females can become males in case there is a dangerous lack of males. It is unknown if male are able to become females.

Curiosity:

Merfolks aren't just known for their special social behaviours, but also for their curiosity. They appreciate shiny objects and the craft making of jewels and weapons. It is unknown where the got this knowledge. When a human enters their territory, they will most of the time get near him or her for further inspections. Their curiosity leads them something to crawl out of the water to explore, and they like to collect objects like books, jewels, human made weapons, etc...

Human-Merfolk Interactions and Relations:

If there is a thing merfolks appreciate from humans, its the ones who make an effort to speak their language. To them , it can be considered as respect and appreciation of their culture and their kind. The interactions between them are not verry common for the avoid Wizards and Muggles alike. The reason of such distance between them and us could be because of how some of us treat them sometime as inferior creatures. They prefer not to interract to much even if the curriosity will sometime push them to do the opposite.
