Chapter 5
The next day went fast for Austin. His morning classes went by quickly and he talked to his muggle school friends a bit before running to the Great Hall around dinner time. When he burst through the giant doors he saw a cat sitting on a ledge, licking its paws, and a Ravenclaw prefect with her head in a bunch of assignments that needed grading.
"Hello again." he said sitting down and messing with his scarf. The cat transformed back into Marie and Molina looked up from her paperwork.
"Hello Austin." they both said with smiles.
"So did you sign up for the animagus club?" Marie asked leaning in. He had gone to the sign up board for clubs, but he couldn't help but join more than one when he saw the many cool and exciting club names.
"Yeah." he said showing the sign up acceptance paper.
"Awesome, just watch for all the scattered fur in the club room." she said teasingly.
Suddenly, two new people ran into the hall giggling and laughing away. From the look on Marie's face she knew one of them and was annoyed by their presence. It was a Gryffindor girl named Manroop and a girl Ravenclaw. Austin had seen Manroop in the common room before, but had never gotten a chance to talk with her due to his studies.
"Hello everyone." she said loudly.
"Hello." the Austin an the two Ravenclaw girls said back.
Before the two could sit a spider came out from underneath the table that made other students in the Hall shriek. The boy couldn't understand what all the fuss was about, it was just a small defenseless spider. His father and mother had both taught him about the importance of nature and how all creatures, no matter how dangerous, had their place in it. He went to scoop it up when Marie took out a hammer and smashed it before the boy could even touch it.
"Hey!" Austin said angrily "It didn't do anything!"
The girl wiped the spider juices off of the tool and put it back in her pack.
"I hate spiders." she said sticking her tongue out.
"It was a living thing." he said sadly.
"It was a nuisance." she retorted.
Austin then got a great idea in his head.
"You ought to be thankful it wasn't one of those giant man-sized spiders." he said going back to his book. Manroop and a few others heads turned to him in curiosity to find out what he was saying. Marie's eyes enlarged at the thought of what he just said.
"Man-sized?" she said shakily.
"Oh yeah, I've heard rumors that they live in the Forbidden Forest outside." said Austin with a devilish smile. Manroop scooched closer to hear more.
"Wow. Do you think we can see some of them?" the Gryffindor girl said. The boy questioned going outside after school hours, it could mean major detention. However, he himself had heard these rumors from others around the school and he was as curious as the other were too see if they were true. He looked to make sure there were no Professors watching in the back of the Hall.
"As long as you know that this could get us in a lot of trouble if we're caught." he said.
"I understand." she said. The Ravenclaw girl and Marie got up and came forward as well.
"I'm going to." said the Ravenclaw girl. "The name is Kendall."
"Austin, nice to meet you Kendall." he said shaking her hand. "Don't tell me you're coming too Marie. I thought you hate spiders."
"I want to see as well." she said taking her hammer back out.
"I'm staying here, you all go get in trouble." Molina said going back to her work.
"Just don't tell anyone." Marie said.
"I won't, I hope you guys survive." she said. The boy gave her a thumbs up of assurance and turned back to Kendall, Manroop, and Marie.
"Alright, we'll meet up at Hagrids Hut in one hour." he said.
The four nodded and dispanded to their seperate common rooms.
