A Few Rules And A New Adventure

Chapter 1

"Hogwarts?" said a boy shuffling through his mail as he re-entered his cottage home. "The magical school of witchcraft and wizardry?"

"Ah. I knew sooner or later they would send the letter." Said his father who was sitting and reading his Daily Prophet.

"That's great to hear Austin." said his mother who was preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

The boy ran upstairs straight away, his curly brown hair bouncing and his green eyes lit up with happiness and glee from this new news. He threw a bunch of shirts and pants into his chest, he had been planning so long for this day that he already knew what he was bringing with him. Finally, he was going to the school where great wizards and witches had learnt and emerged from.

"Now hold on, Austin." His father said at his bedroom doorway. "We still have to go to Diagon Alley and get a few things. Not to mention, you still have a few weeks before your school year starts and I want to get some things clear in your head."

Austin's delighted smile turned to a frown.

"What things?" he asked sitting on his bed. His father sat down next to him patting him on the back.

"There are some rules that I want you to make sure you follow by while you're there. Not just the school's rules, but some home rules as well. Now I know you're a good kid and me and your mother have raised you to be kind and nice to everyone, but be wary of some kids. Not everyone is as nice, some think they are more high born than others. Especially with bloodlines." he said.

"But, that doesn't mean I can't befriend them in some way. Right dad?" Austin asked staring at the ground.

"I wish that were true son, but some can't understand the concept." He said

"Well maybe my dog side can cheer them up." the boy said. He jumped up and his body changed and transformed. His feet became paws, he grew a tail, and his face turned into a muzzle. A white and brown husky wolf mix stood in front of the father and barked loudly.

"That is another rule I want you to follow by. Never show your animagus form in school."

The dog whimpered and changed back to human form.

"Why not?" Austin asked.

"The people at Hogwarts teach you about animagus' in later years, but I taught you it early since I myself have learned this section of magic and I wanted to pass it to you. However, you are not registered in the Ministry of Magic's record's and therefore are not allowed to use this appearance outside of home." his father said.

"I will do as you ask father." he said.

"And lastly,I don't want you showing off if you do better than others. You can succeed, but do it silently. And if others struggle then help them succeed just as you will." his father said shaking the boy's culry hair. "Well I'm off work today, so why don't you, me, and your mother go down to Diagon Alley and get your textbooks and other school supplies."

"Yeah!" said the boy jumping back onto his bed and grabbing some clothes to wear from his chest.

The train in King's Cross Station howled loudly as it was about to take off.

"Wait. Where is the Hogwarts Express? This is just a normal express train." Austin said puzzled standing in the middle of the station with his belongings.

"That's because this is platform 9 and platform 10." said his father coming up to him with his mother.

"Now do you have everything dear?" she said eyeing his stuff.

"Yes mom I have everything I need." The boy said looking at all of his stuff. He had his chest full of clothes, books, and muggle computer device. His brown barn owl, which he had named Lenore, hooted and screeched loudly.

"Not everything." said his dad holding out an old dusty box. He opened the box to show a very long Gryffindor scarf. "This was my father, your grandfathers, scarf. It kept him warm and cozy throughout his years at Hogwarts and it did throughout mine as well. And now I pass it on to you. Now if the sorting hat puts you in another house it doesn't mean you can't hold onto it."

He gave the old scarf to Austin who wrapped it around his neck. It dangled down to his knees. His mother couldn't withhold a little chuckle from seeing this sight.

"I'll keep it safe dad." Austin said."So where do I go to get to the Hogwarts express?"

His father pointed to a brick pillar in between Platforms 9 and 10.

"Run through that." he said.

"Run THROUGH it? That's made of bricks! I'll crash into it!" Austin said stepping away from it.

"Watch." said is father. He stepped back and ran straight towards it slipping right through and disappearing.

"Woah." Austin gasped.

His mother tapped him to go on ahead and the boy nervously stepped forward. He took in a deep breathe before he ran at the wall with all of his carted supplies as he went straight through the pillar and came out on the opposite side. There, horned the red train with short and tall magical children gathering around it and hoping on.

"Ah, platform 9 and 3/4's." his dad said sighing. "This place brings back memories."

The boy hugged and kissed his parents goodbye and hopped on the train with the other students.

"I'll make you proud, I promise!" he yelled waving as the train started to move and take off.

When the train station was out of view, he walked around trying to find an open sitting room. He saw students who had already been sorted walking around with their different house crests and colors on them. Gyffindoor's with wide friendly smiles and fun ideas, Ravenclaw's with cautious but noble postures, Slytherin's with sly and very cocky attitudes, Hufflepuff's with curious looks and intelligent minds. Students of all ages and sizes talking and laughing with each other, some playing pranks and others eating sweets from the trolley cart.

This new adventure he had started was going to be a fun one for sure.
