TOM RIDDLE

Chapter 3
TOM RIDDLE

I think that my father’s father is at the other end of the spectrum. I know little about him because he was born in around 1905 in a place called Little Hangleton. He was my grandfather; he was a muggle and that is where the similarities lie. They were born 30 years apart.

Little Hangleton is a small village close to Great Hangleton. It is around 50 miles from Cokeworth. It is very pretty, with countryside and valleys. The Riddle family were known for being rich, but unpopular. When he found out that my grandmother was a witch, he cast her out. My father always elaborated a bit of the truth of the story but none the less he moved back to his parents.

She was already pregnant. Why she didn’t tell him after the birth, I don’t know. In my head I always think of him to be eccentric. simply because of the way he reacted. His parents too must have been overwhelmed. Whatever happened whoever’s story you believe. My father was born and my grandmother died shortly afterwards. Those are the only things I know for sure.

I have no evidence of what my grandfather looked like. I think that he was a tall, smartly dressed, respectable man. Possibly feared by others. Only because I have spoken to the people of Little Hangleton and they told me so. I imagine he would have looked the way I remember my father. But with a harsher face. When I was born, he would have been 73. He was murdered by my father in 1943 at the tender age of 38. Again, this was not a great indication of my heritage. Muggles to me, for a long time, where people that hated magic and would hurt us.
