Prologue
Chapter 1
Lily and James Potter felt they were the happiest and luckiest people alive. They had brilliant, true friends and a beautiful boy who was turning four that day. Lily was a beautiful young woman who had flaming red hair and beautiful emerald eyes. Her husband, James, had messy black hair and hazel eyes. While Lily was a very organised person, James was not.
"James!" Lily yelled. "You told me you bought a cake!"
James stopped in fear. He had not bought a cake but had told Lily that he had. Lily could be pretty terrifying when she wanted to be.
"About that Lily-pad," he said. "When I went to buy the cake, they didn't have any."
"And you thought it would be wise to tell me an hour before everything needs to be ready!?" she shrieked.
"Well, uh, when you put it like that..." James said. Lily ran her hands through her hair in frustration and ran to the kitchen to make Harry a cake, all the while muttering words like:
"Idiot...Completely irresponsible...Shouldn't be a dad."
"Oi!" James shouted. "I can hear you!"
"I know!" Lily yelled back cheekily. "You're supposed to."
"That's it!" James teased. He ran down to the kitchen and tackled his wife to the ground. He kissed her forehead and she giggled.
"James," she said. "I'm supposed to be making Harry's cake. Because you didn't buy him one!"
Bing!
The doorbell rang and Lily, who had just changed into a pretty summer-time dress for the party, answered the door.
"Tuney!" she called in delight. Her sister smiled. While Lily was very pretty, Petunia was not. She was thin and bony with twice the amount of neck than a normal person should have. "Dudley."
She picked up her nephew and gave him a hug, he weighed a ton.
"You feed him too much," she told her sister. Petunia shrugged sheepishly.
"Hi Lily," she greeted. She hugged Lily and walked to the living room. They added their present to the pile. Harry bounded down the stairs.
"Dudley!" he squealed delightedly.
"Harry!" Dudley called to his cousin. "Happy Birthday!"
"Thanks!" Harry said. The two cousins went up to Harry's bedroom and played with this muggle toy named lego.
Later on that day they were called down. The boys ran down the stairs to the dining room. The lights were off but candles were lit.
"Happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Harry, Happy Birthday to you," they all sung. Harry blew out the candles. He didn't spit surprisingly. They all cut into the cake and ate. Harry went to say hello to all of his uncles (Uncle Moony, Uncle Wormtail, Uncle Padfoot, Uncle Vernon) and then retreated to his bedroom with Dudley and the other boys who had arrived, Ron and Neville.
