The first time I was interviewed with Rita Skeeter was in January ’95. It was part of the Triwizard Tournament. Everyone was interviewed in some way. She is unscathing to say the least. Mine went something like this:

SO, YOU ARE? Louisa Snape.

RELATED TO PROFESSOR SEVERUS SNAPE CORRECT? Yes.

AND HOW IS THAT? Good.

I SEE… DAUGHTER? No

NO? No.

COUSIN? NIECE? Niece.

HMMM…. SEVERINA SNAPE YES? Yes.

AND HOW IS THAT? What?

BEING THE NIECE OF SUCH A WELL KNOWN PROFESSOR OF HOGWARTS, EVEN BARING HIS NAME? Normal.

REALLY? HOW INTERESTING…

BUT YOU ARE NOT A SLYTHERIN? No.

A GRYFFINDOR AND YET RELATED TO THE HEAD OF SLYTHERIN. FASCINATING… DO YOU THINK HE IS ASHAMED
OF YOU? No.

NOW HARRY POTTER IS IN GRYFFINDOR ARE SUPPORTING HIM? OR ARE YOU SUPPORTING THE OTHER HOGWARTS CHAMPION… CEDRIC DIGGORY? Both.

OF COURSE YOU ARE. IS IT NOT TRUE THAT YOU ARE THE FORMER GIRLFRIEND OF CEDRIC DIGGORY? So?
AND HOW DOES IT FEEL KNOWING THAT HE HAS ANOTHER BY HIS SIDE AND POTENTIALLY RISKS HIS LIFE AND

YOU ARE NOT THERE. I am there.

WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU STILL REMAIN FRIENDS, DESPITE EVERYTHING? Yes

The piece that came out in the Daily Prophet was a little different to what I remember saying to her and included this:
“Miss L. Snape. The disgraced niece of Hogwarts Professor, professes her love for former boyfriend and Hogwarts Champion Cedric Diggory.”
As you can imagine my uncle was unimpressed with anything that Rita had to say and it certainly made for interesting conversation afterwards. If only she had known.
