Her Black, Silent World (in progress)
written by Annabeth Katniss Potter
16 year old Beth Lorian used her ears the most. When her friends Megan Stang, Maria "Mare" Lang, Allie "Al" Cammie, or Carla "C" Thomers talked, argued, or gossiped, Beth would listen to it all. That's why the scarlet fever affected her the way it did. Beth's fever left her with a problem: she would be deaf forever. Now she must learn to navigate her silent world. With her friends by her side, as she's just starting to adjust, Beth is caught in a whirlpool of twists, turns, an unexpected friend and betrayal. She sadly caught the fever again. Now Beth is blind. Will Beth ever learn to navigate her black, silent world?

The Fever
Chapter 1
School has started, I JUST bought a car, and I take my friends for joy rides in it sometimes.
My homeroom teacher, Ms. Stronie, is very kind.
In class, we have two jars with one filled with beans. The other is empty. Every time someone in class does an "act of good" (as Ms. Stronie calls it) she'll say something like "Megan, move three beans over". But every time somebody does something bad, we have to put a bean back in the other jar. Whenever we empty the jar we wanted to empty, Ms. Stronie lets us have a class party! There's cake, ice cream, and we spend the night at school!
Oh, I love school... but two days ago, I was diagnosed with scarlet fever. UGH!! Now I have to stay in bed for a LONG time.
((I'll fast forward for you, Reader))
ONE YEAR, THREE MONTHS, FOUR WEEKS, ELEVEN DAYS, AND SIX HOURS LATER
