Magic of a different kind

Chapter 1
Perhaps the reason that I have never really found a great friendship with Fleur Delacour is that we have very different backgrounds. She has a Veela ancestor and I have a Woodland Elf ancestor. They say that certain women do not do well together and you can say this is true for any woman. The trouble is we are akin to each other.

VEELAS: Semi-human magical beings. Beautiful women with white-gold hair and skin that appears to shine “moon-bright”. When they get angry their faces are cruel. They are native to Bulgaria but like many creatures are found all over the world. Muggles generally pass them off as albino. Their looks and dance can be seductive to most males and causes them to be impulsive and do things they would not usually do. They have a special type of magic that does not need wands.

WOODLAND ELVES: Semi-human magical beings, however they do not live in this realm. Woodland elves speak a language that is similar to many Slavic languages. Their lives revolve around the sun and moon and the rise and fall of the sap in the trees. They have pale skin, toned to the month that they were born and dark hair. Many have bright eyes as well. Muggles only come into contact with those that have crossed the realm or those that are part-elf. As with Veelas elves do not need wands but have their own type of magic.

Being part of either of these beings means that you may possess powers of a different nature. These could vary depending on each person. The powers for both Veelas and elves are also stronger if carried on a female line. This is true for both myself and my sister-in-law. It is also how I was able to inherit strong powers of transfiguration, a rare gift for magical people. It also intensified the powers of my mother and uncle. I am sure the same is true for the Delacour family.
