HIS RIDDLE

Chapter 5
The next person to die had been Moody and yet with all that had gone before, she had no feeling of remorse. There was nothing she felt she wanted to change. “I would rather try and save Hedwig” she thought and yet she knew that the situation being how it was, perhaps Hedwig would know. She was very intelligent and very protective of Harry. If there was one thing that she could do then it would be to be elected and one of those to ambush the seven Harry’s but that could risk a lot.

A new year meant that she was going to start at the Death Chamber. It wasn’t the most exciting of experiences but as she had never been there before it was to be at least, an experience. Other Aurors in training were taken at the same time and their faces went white as they clearly remembered the death of Sirius Black. This gave her an idea. This could be the one death that she stopped the one that could help everyone else survive. She took put it on and turned it. By now she was so used to the sensation that she didn’t even need to close her eyes.

She made her way down the hall. She had been one of the few not to go to the battle in the death chamber. She racked her brains to remember why. Work? Prophecy? Scars…? Whenever it was mentioned it was quickly hushed about, she thought that this was more to do with Harry, not her. She had so many scars but she thought she knew how they had come about. Was it possible, that someone could have taken her original memory and replace it with another, modify it even? Questions started buzzing around her head. Instead of saving Sirius she decided to follow them and find out what actually happened.

What is the point she thought, of being part of the department of mysteries when you have a huge mystery in your own life and a way to find out? She transfigured into a black puppy again and made her way with them. As she made her way into the department there was a sense that somehow, she had been there before. She tried to block it from her mind. She was being ridiculous, of course she had just come from there. But still there was a nagging feeling. She stood at the portal and looked on at the different chambers. Death, Dreams, Prophecy. That’s why they were here. They had come to find what the prophecy was. There was no way that she could take it simply, gaze on. Still something was worrying her. Why did this seem familiar? Had she seen it in the same way? Had someone used her? It began to eat her mind. Playing with time is dangerous it can send people mad. Was she going to be one of those people? She stood looking at the portal that Sirius had gone through. She couldn’t put her finger on it but something was odd. Bellatrix had cursed him and he fell in, that was in the papers. Everyone knew that. So why did she have a strange feeling?

As she stood there trying to work the situation out there came a cold laugh. On one side of the room her friends were standing with Harry and the prophecy. On the other side, Death Eaters trying to get it from them. She couldn’t bear to have Sirius die in a terrible way so she transfigured. Her “invisible” form. Known to be like a ghost by her friends and helped a lot when she tried to do mischievous things at school. She knew that there was nothing to be done. This was a battle and she knew he would do anything for Harry. He loved him. All she could do was to hold him tightly as he fell and make sure that he was safe.
