When I was sorted the interesting thing is that I was never sorted with my actual name (more on that in “Sorting a Snape”) I wonder if I had been sorted as a Snape-Riddle whether I would have been sorted into Slytherin.

There is no reason why I could not have been. My uncle, at the time was head of the house, I am a parcelmouth and I am also a descendent, via my father of the founding member Salazar Slytherin. You would have thought perhaps that all descendants are sorted into the houses of their ancestors but apparently not.

Traits of Slytherins are, in general, resourcefulness, cunning, ambition, determination, leadership, self-preservation (known as something less nice if you actually attended Hogwarts) fraternity and lineage. Most of these traits I would say I have and on the day I got sorted had even spent a long time living in the dungeons, where the Slytherin dorms are.

My father was a Slytherin and many known dark wizards are known to have been in Slytherin however Merlin was also a Slytherin.
