Chapter 2
Those that have read about what my uncle’s views, may not be surprised to know that he did not take kindly to this for several reasons.
1: The name used was not a name I went by, simply the name I was probably registered under when I was born. I was now only Louisa Snape or Louisa Snape-Riddle.
2: It specialised in the Dark Arts, something my uncle wanted me not to do.
3: The Headmaster was Igor Karkaroff, a former Death Eater and had given SNAPE as a name at his inquiry.
For the Tri-wizard Tournament it was selected by my uncle as the location for a “hidden” student by the name of Garit. He was to become a friend of Viktor Krum and was my cousin. In recent years they have offered places to both of my children. We consider this with care because work often takes both myself and my husband to different locations. We let the children decide.
The thought is there in the back of my mind, how could it not, how would I have turned out?
Being a Viking and Nordic school many of my subjects would have remained the same. The influence would simply have been different in regards to the Dark Arts. By the time I would have received this letter I would have had far more influence from things of a kinder nature meaning that I may possibly have taken it on board. My time would have been spent differently of course, but that does not mean that I would have been away from Hogwarts completely. With already a keen interest in animals and a parcelmouth myself it is possible that when Charlie Weasley went to Romania to study dragons, I would be corresponding with him more about it. Who is to say that I would never be with the Weasleys?
When the Durmstrang Academy came to Hogwarts I was too young to apply for the tournament but I can imagine that I would have made a strong case as to why I should at least be part of the representatives of Durmstrang to go there and sit my exams, spend more time with my family and cheer for our assured victor. In this time, I would have met up with people such as Fred, George and Cedric. All of which I am sure I would have made friends with. Every decision, no matter how small, shapes the person that you become. Sometimes you have no control. I had no control. Interestingly I think life has a funny way of shaping itself to that even if I had gone, some of the more major things in my life would have still happened.
