Chapter 2
I settled in a town north of France. Being a farmer was hard work. But I love it. My son, Karl live with me with his wife Emily and his son. It was peaceful day if I could recall. I can see Emily feeding my beloved grandson on a wheel-barrel of hay and my son, my son Karl, strong as he is moving the hay into the cart for Mrs Laudre delivery.
However, the day turn different. Without a word two men from the French army around Karl and grab him. I was startled by Emily cries as he sees my beloved son being recruited. How did they found out? I mean, he could barely speak any German. I wonder who told them about us? Was it Mark? Jaque? I try to stop him but he push me aside and started packing his bag. It was a sad day seeing my only son walking two those Frenchmen. I would be a proud father if he fight for France....but Germany? I spit at their soil.
Emily cried on my shoulder. I couldn't say anything. I try. But not a word come out of my mouth.
I hate them. I hate everyone who fight in this war. War......is war.
