Before Hogwarts

Chapter 1

Born in England on 19 September 1979, Hermione Jean Granger was an only child, born to muggles. Temporarily known as Wendell and Monica Wilkins, the Granger parents lived simple lives as dentists and were surprised yet supportive when they discovered their daughter's exceptional skills as a witch.

Hermione Granger lives her early life as a bright young human girl. Unaware of her abilities, she spent her time reading and learning at a brilliant rate, inheriting her parents wit.

It isn't until Hermione is nearly twelve years of age that she discovers the truth about her powers. In the summer of 1991, Hermione receives a letter claiming that she has been accepted into 'Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.'

Mr. and Mrs. Granger set to work, making sure that their daughter is applied to succeed. They take her to Diagon Alley and do all that they can to prepare for this change. Hermione's parents exchange human currency for Galleons, Sickles and Knuts at the Gringotts bank.

Hermione took in all that was new around her as quickly as possible, always eager to learn. She went  to Ollivander's to acquire her first wand, a vine wood with a dragon heartstring core.

Her parents' support was a gift, one that struck Hermione. Hermione takes their love and makes them proud, and eventually has to make hard decisions in order to protect them after she attends her first few years at Hogwarts.
