Astoria Malfoy
Chapter 1
Many people know that I knew, and was good friends, with Mrs Astoria Malfoy, née Greengrass. Many have raised suspicions in the past that I helped her go back in time and get pregnant with a child, Scorpius Malfoy. This is because people believe that he is the child of Voldemort. I would like it stated that over the years I helped Astoria in many different ways but to have a child, which would be my half-brother, is something I never helped her to do. All you have to do is look at him to realise he looks exactly like Draco Malfoy. If people are idiotic enough to think that she would put herself at risk for that then they are very stupid.
I knew of Astoria as we went to Hogwarts together but did not have much connection with her. She started when I was in my 4th year and her sister Daphne was the year below me. I helped her escape from the castle at the Battle of Hogwarts but there really is nothing more than that. When I was a Head Girl in 1996/7 is when I had the most contact with her but it was limited at best. When she started dating Draco is when I got to know her a bit more. I had heard rumours about a malediction curse surrounding their family and became interested.
It is fair to say that transfigurists configure together. Whether it affects you in a good or a bad way we are all affected and understand those around us. We stood by each other and formed a group. Transfiguration Collaboration. It was obvious that Astoria was sick with her malediction and even though I had known Nagini it didn’t seem to help. You could say that our friendship was solid, strong and we helped each other. I was a bridesmaid along with her sister when she married Draco. Various members of my current family went including Harry Potter.
When Scorpius was born in 2005, I was there to help her. To be honest I didn’t know what I should do but I was there as support in case something should happen in the form of her malediction. I don’t know whether to blame myself, if perhaps I did something wrong, perhaps it was inevitable as the pregnancy had been taking a strain on her anyway. I had several potions prepared and I was the only one to transfigure into something if we need to, quickly. Luckily, everything went, not exactly to plan but at least better than expected. And she gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. When I saw him, and the joy on both her and Draco’s faces, I have to admit that I was envious. In that moment I decided to move on with my life, do what I should do, get married and have children. My friends had moved on. It was time, I decided for me to move on too.
I always say that time is time. It is something that I have learnt to be so true over the years. She was at my wedding and saw me through the birth of my second child. She, along with Draco became my best friends. It isn’t something that can be understood by many people. Especially those that didn’t go through what we did. Just after the birth of my son, she told me that the curse had progressed. We knew that her life was not going to be like others but to know that it had progressed was a shock. She asked me what I could do for her. If I could help her. I would like to say that I did what I could. The potions I made were not quite what you would get in St Mungo’s.
She died without pain, with her family and close friend.
