Chapter 2
We didn’t go back there together. I went on my own. It became my place to hide away. Most of the time the dog turned up but most of the time it sat in a corner shaking. What are you supposed to do with something like that? I decided that whoever this person was, they were scared & hungry. I took food and did my homework there. After a week or so, I decided that if I were an animal too then they may find me easier to be around so I transfigured. I chose to be a puppy version of the dog. After that I went as much as I could to see it, him. We even went around Hogsmeade together because I thought 2 heads were better than 1.

It was a lot later that I understood that my dog friend, Padfoot was also Sirius Black, wanted prisoner of Azkaban and ex-Death Eater. I also was naïve in the fact that he knew that I was the daughter of Severina Snape and Tom Riddle. What I always think about is that he took the time to get to know ME.

It was a long time, in fact, longer than I care to believe that Sirius and I became friends. He became my protector and I became the little pup that followed him more or less everywhere that I was allowed to go. There were even nights when I would stay over at the shack. We would both take our animal form and go to sleep. If we were found nobody would think anything of it because it looked like a dog with her puppy. Even Professor Lupin had no idea when he came that it was me. The most major incident that occurred in the shack, was when not only Lupin knew I was there with Padfoot but my uncle did to. Somehow along the way Ron, Hermione and Harry found their way into the situation, but they so inevitably did. Professor Snape was so angry that Sirius Black was down there in the first place, it then turned into shock that I was there too and panic at how he would get me out. I had never seen my uncle with that look on his face. I refused to go near him for a week.

The truth? The real person in danger was Scabbers. I had stolen him from Ron’s room several times and tried to take him but it had never worked. Lupin and Padfoot told my uncle that he had formed the wrong solution in his brilliant brain. I thought it was cruel of course but I understood the truth, the lies. Somehow Padfoot escaped and Professor Lupin left at the end of the year. People started finding out that he was a werewolf. Some say my uncle was the cause. I don’t believe that. He was too good for that.
