Chapter 1 - What He Did
Chapter 1
Loren couldn't sleep properly. She was twisting and turning in her sleep. She got up and walked to the bathroom. She put the light on, but squinted as she did. As her eyes adjusted to the light she opened them again. She was standing in front of the mirror. She looked at her reflection. She was about to cleanse her face, when her phone rang. She hurried back to her bedroom to check who the caller was:
Max (Baby!)
She picked up the phone as quickly as possible and stared at the screen. Why was he calling at this time? She answered anyway.
"Hey babe" she said sleepily.
"Hey boo. Can you meet me in the park? In like, ten minutes?" Max said down the line. He seemed to be in a rush.
"But Max! It's midnight!" she complained.
"I don't care, ok? I need to get this over and done with" he said.
"But what do you..." she started, but he had already hung up. She sighed and got dressed. She walked down the stairs and out of the front door. She hurried her way to the park across the road. As she neared, she street-lights seemed to blind her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw movement. There were two figures standing there. They were practically on top of each other. As she got closer to them, she saw they were kissing each other. Right there, under the light from one of the lamps. As Loren stepped closer, she saw who it was. Max. And her best friend, Olivia. She stared at them in disgust. She had got there early, but what was going on? Surely this was some sort of prank. Yes, it must be. She stepped back and waited for ten minutes.
Max walked up to her and tapped her shoulder. "Hey" he said.
"Oh hi" Loren said, coldly.
"What's wrong?" Max asked, lifting her head up.
"Nothing. Why did you want me here anyway?" she said.
"Oh err Loren... I think of you as a great friend, but I don't really see our relationship advancing anymore than that. What I'm trying to say is I think we should see other people." Max said sadly.
"Oh err really? W-well I was about to say the same thing. Goodbye Max" she said, as she walked away into the darkness, leaving him behind.
Even though she saw it coming, she couldn't stop the tears in her eyes.
