It was Raven’s 21^st
birthday, Lily and James had insisted that Raven should come in for dinner.
Raven finally agreed, and had entered the house using her Animagus. After
dinner she was surprised with Cake that Lily made, Raven knew she was letting
her guard down but she needed a night off and she was with her best friend.
Lily was putting Harry to bed, and James saw Raven to the door. Raven left as
herself, her wand at her side. She reached the front gate and locked it behind
her when she saw him. He was wearing a dark robe; Raven gasped and raised her
wand. “Don’t do this.” She ordered knowing that wouldn’t do anything. “Step
away child.” He said in a stern voice. “You know I won’t do that.” She said in
a higher voice, hoping James would hear her. Voldermort shook his head. “I
didn’t come here to kill you.” He said harsher. Raven was confused. She had
fought Death Eaters and Voldermort before, whenever someone got in there way,
they just killed them. “Why don’t you just kill me?” She asked with anger in
her voice. Then Voldermort moved closer and spoke in her ear. “It would be
foolish to destroy something you created.” He said coldly. Raven’s eyes went
wide; just then Voldermort raised his arm and stunned her out cold flying her
back. Raven could hear Lily’s screams and saw a flash of green light. She
clutched her wand in her hand as tears streamed down her face, she failed. It
was moments later that Severus was at her side. “Raven, are you alright? What
happened?” He asked. Raven looked up at him, with tears in her eyes; she looked
up at the house. “I failed.” She said. Severus ran into the house, Raven slowly
followed behind him. Raven knew she failed, that her best friend was dead, as
well as her friend’s husband and baby. Raven stepped over James lifeless body
and crept up the stairs. She could hear Severus sobs and knew the horror. Then
Raven heard something she didn’t expect to hear, a baby’s cry. Raven raced up
the stairs and into the Nursery. She looked right over to the crib and saw baby
Harry. “Harry.” Raven whispered with a small smile on her face. She walked to
the crib, picked up Harry and held him tight kissing his forehead comforting
him. It was a moment later that Harry stopped crying. Raven then looked down to
see Severus sobbing holding Lily’s lifeless body. Raven shielded Harry from the
sight and slowly left the room. Raven walked down stairs to find Hagrid and
Sirius crying at the sight of James, Raven handed Harry to Hagrid and then
raised her wand at Sirius thinking he reveled the Potters whereabouts, not
knowing Peter was there secret keeper. By then Severus had came down stairs and
stood behind her. Hagrid had moved away from them to protect Harry, Sirius fled
the house only after Raven and Severus tried to stop him. Hagrid later left on
Sirius bike to take Harry to Professor Dumbledore and McGonagall. Raven and
Severus had then gone to Hogwarts to wait for the Ministry of Magic and
Dumbledore. Both Raven and Severus sat in Dumbledore’s office speechless not
speaking.
