Professor McGonagall
came out and talked to the first years, she explained the different houses and
how they proceeded with The Sorting Hat ceremony. Raven listened intently. They
were then taken into the great hall, where they started the sorting ceremony.
Raven waited her turn but listened for familiar names. Sirius Black was the
first name she knew. He walked up, McGonagall placed the hat on his head, it
took a moment and then the hat yelled ‘Gryffindor’.  Then there was Lily, Remus, Peter, and James
all put in Gryffindor. The next name she knew was Severus Snape, when the hat
yelled ‘Slytherin’ Raven was confused, but shrugged it off. Finally the time
came to Raven’s turn. McGonagall had called her name and she slowly walked up
and sat on the stool. McGonagall put the hat on Raven’s head and Raven waited.
“You’d be excellent in Slytherin. You’re ambitious and cunning.” The hat spoke
to her. “But I’m a muggleborn.” Raven protested confused. “You’re also brave
and daring, like a Gryffindor.” The hat said as Raven waited for him to scream
her house name. “Oh no, how about…” He trailed off. “Ravenclaw!” He screamed.
Raven smiled brightly and skipped to the Ravenclaw table. She was excited, and
Ravenclaw felt like the perfect house for her. She meet the Head Boy, Head
Girl, The Quiditch team, and the Perfects. Raven was the only first year sorted
into Ravenclaw. Raven felt like she was going to have fun at school. Raven then
enjoyed the Welcoming Feast and later followed her fellow Ravenclaw students to
their common room.
