Diagon Alley.

Chapter 3

Raven was taken to
Diagon Alley by Professor McGonagall a week after her visit from Dumbledore.
McGonagall had taken her through the Leaky Cauldron and treated her to the
‘Leaky House Soup’ which was in Raven’s opinion the best soup she ever had,
since the orphanage food was never tasty and never filling. She was also
treated to a nice hot glass of butterbeer.
After lunch McGonagall took Raven to Gringotts Wizarding bank to open
Raven her own vault and exchange all of the muggle money she had, which
happened to Ravens shock be a lot. Raven didn’t know where the money came from,
but the Orphanage had told McGonagall every birthday, and Christmas someone had
sent Raven money, so they saved it for her since she couldn’t spend it. After
the bank McGonagall had dropped Raven off at Madam Malkin’s Robes for All
Occasions, while McGonagall went to get Raven’s school books, Cauldron, Set of
glass or crystal phials, a telescope and a set of brass scales. Raven was
getting fitted for her robes when a two separate family’s came in. One was of a
mother and a father with two daughters. The taller daughter had dark hair,
while the younger one, who looked Raven’s age had red hair with freckles. The
second family was only of a mother and son. The son had dark hair let was long
and looked greasy, he also had this pointed nose but was kind of cute to Raven.
The two children started to get fitted as Raven was finishing up. The red
haired girl perked up and spoke to Raven. “Is it you’re first year at Hogwarts
too?” She asked. Raven had smiled and nodded yes. “Yes. What’s your name?”
Raven replied and asked. “I’m Lily Evans, I’m the only witch in my family and
this is my friend Severus Snape.” Lily had replied. Raven was glad to making
new friends. “Where are your parents?” Severus had asked Raven. Raven had
frowned and looked down. “I don’t have any, I’m an orphan.” She replied. “Oh
I’m sorry.” Lily had perked up. “Oh so you don’t know if you’re muggle born,
half blood or pure.” Severus added. Raven had looked at him confused but before
she could ask McGonagall had come in to retrieve her. Raven waved goodbye and
then left with Professor McGonagall. There second to last stop was Ollivanders
Wand Shop. Raven was addressed to walk into Ollivanders by herself. When she
walked in, there wasn’t anyone there. She could see dust all over the place,
she wasn’t sure if this was some kind of trick or if it was normal. She rang
the bell on the counter and heard a low soft voice come from behind the dusty
book shelves. “I’ll be right with you Raven.” The voice had called. Ollivander
came out with a witchy young girl who looked quite older then Raven.  The young girl had black hair with white
underneath, she was with a boy around her age with pure blond hair. Raven
smiled at them, the boy ignored her but the girl smiled back. They left the
shop after talking with Ollivander and then Ollivander turned his attention to
Raven. “Raven St. Claire?” He asked. She nodded with a sweet smile. “How do you
know my name?” She asked, but he never answered her. “Let’s see, let’s see.” He
said browsing the long thin boxes toppled on top of each other. He grabbed 3
different boxes and brought them to the counter. Ollivander took the first wand
out of the box and handed it to Raven. She took it and then waved it, and the
windows behind her shattered. Ollivander snatched the wand out of her hand and
placed it in the back. “That just won’t do.” He said handing her the second
wand, the second wand didn’t do anything negative or positive. Ollivander took
it and handed her the third. Raven took it and gave it a flick, the wand
burested with fireworks that became firefly’s and fluttered her around her till
they disappeared. Raven looked at them in awe hoping he wouldn’t take the wand
from her. A smile creased across Ollivander’s face. “Perfect.” He said happily.
“I found my wand.” Raven said happily. Ollivander shook his head no. “The wand
choses the wizard.” He said sternly. “And I’m glad that wand choose you.” He
added. “Why? May I ask?” Raven asked curious. “That wand is special and rare,
it took years to make.” He said taking the wand to hold it. “This is the only
wand with multiple woods, and 3 different cores. Most wands only have one wood
and one core.” He explained.  “You’re
wand is started with a Willow wood, which is uncommon, then dogwood, and
hawthorn and is surrounded by blackthorn, black walnut, and ebony. As for the
core it is a Phoenix feather, surrounded by a dragon heartstring.” He said then
looking at her. “The last detail, the last core, is a rare core, which is the
key recipe into holding the wand together.” He explained, he then smiled
brightly handing her, her new wand. He bent down closer to her and pointed to
her wand and whispered. “The last core is a feather from a Raven.” He said with
smile. Raven looked at her wand mesmerized. The wand was a reddish brown and
had a black ivy carved pattern and was quite gorgeous. Just then the doorbell
rang as McGonagall came into reterive Raven. Raven said her goodbyes to
Ollivander and left. Professor McGonagall explained to Raven that the last
thing to get on her supply list was a pet, but wasn’t required. Raven wanted a
pet but couldn’t decide if she wanted an Owl or a Cat. She explained this to
Professor McGonagall and got an idea. They walked to ‘Magical Menagerie’ and
McGonagall pointed into the window and Raven’s mouth dropped. Raven left Diagon
Ally that day with a beautiful black Raven.
