The Boy In The Pet Store

Chapter 1

Slam!

"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed as I rushed to pick up my things. "It's was an accident."

"Watch where you're going!" the man growled at me.

"I-I didn't mean it!"

"And you certainly won't do it again!" The man looked up to my dad. His clothes set him apart from most of the people in Diagon Alley. The man looked back to me. "Filthy Mudblood!"

I looked up to my dad, who was getting angry. "Do you have a problem with muggle-born witches?" He asked. "Because if you have a problem with her, you have a problem with me!"

"Yes!" the man exclaimed. "She doesn't belong in the wizarding world, and neither do you!" The man turned swiftly and walked away.

My dad helped me pick up the rest of my things. "I can't stand those arrogant purebloods," he muttered.

"Ignore them, Dad," I shrugged. "They're stuck on their ways and nothing can change that."

"I shouldn't have to ignore them!" He exclaims. "It's been years since you-know-who has been defeated."

"His name is Voldemort, Dad. Use it."

"Fine, since... since Voldemort has been defeated. His name doesn't change the fact that no one should be treated the way purebloods treat you and I."

"Not all of them, Dad. Just some."

"Most of them."

"Drop it, Dad! We're not here to discuss the arrogance of purebloods."

"Fine. I guess it's time for you to take these and go shopping." My dad reached in his pocket and handed me a heavy bag.

I looked in the bag and there was more galleons than I could count at a glance. "How did you get this?" I ask. "You don't earn wizard currency."

"Your aunt helped. She said that If I gave her the money in muggle dollars, she would match it with the equivalent in galleons. So here is 100 galleons. Spend it on whatever you like. It's an early birthday present."

"Dad, I'm not turning 16 for another month."

"Yes, but I won't be there. Now take these, I'll go get your books."

I smiled and gave my dad a kiss on the cheek before turning around and skipping down the alley.

I stopped in front of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.
