Nagini's Shack

Chapter 3
The next day we went on a walk around the village. People were talking about us staying in the haunted house and things like that, this didn’t ease me. Whilst my uncle was looking at a muggle map, I asked a woman the way to the Gaunt Shack. Her face turned a funny yellow colour.

“You are the first people in many a year to stay in the Riddle Manor.” She said “and now you ask me about the Gaunts? SERPENTS !!!” she screamed at me.

My uncle was pulling me from her by this point. The woman had a truly evil glare.
I couldn’t look away. I was transfixed, purely out of fear.

We eventually found it. I think we had trouble because to us it looked normal. It had been bewitched; I believe to make muggles see it as a perfectly normal house. We saw it for what it was. We saw the dark magic surrounding it. It was a ruin. The voice was still inside though. I could still hear it. The woman had been right. The door was marked with serpents as an emblem. This didn’t scare me. I went in. I should have been more scared or at least a bit cautious of going in somewhere I didn’t know. Sitting in the main room, was a snake. I knew this snake. It was Nagini.

When she saw me she was shocked just as much as I was. I hadn’t seen her since I was two. We used to play together. Uncle was close behind but I fell to my knees and greeted her the only way I knew how. Head to Head.
My uncle was growing increasingly nervous by this point and instead of me twitching and looking around every second it was him. I was calm which perhaps concerned him even more. He knew what greater danger there could be. He did say at one point that we should leave but I wanted to stay.

I followed Nagini. She took me through the fireplace and to a basement room in the house. There, lying in what seemed like a crumpled heap was a foetus. I looked at Nagini who hissed at us:

“LOUISA IS HERE” I was shocked. How would someone know my name?

The foetus hissed back “COME TO ME” I looked at my uncle who had not understood a word of what was going on. For some reason, I wasn’t as scared as I thought I would be of him. He was nothing, I told myself. I had to be brave.
