The Great Hall
Chapter 2
Professor
Celeste changed, picked up her mark book and headed to the Great Hall.
It was crowded with a mass of
students, circling a duel between two students, Rae and Ashley. What they were
dueling over, who could tell? Professor Afolayan just stood silently by the
entrance, watching as Professor Maddox broke up the fighting.
“What is going on here!?” she
yelled.
Everyone started shouting at once.
“Ashley locked the door”. “Rae blasted the door.”
“Peeves blew up the door.” “Scott
got locked in the teachers’ lounge.”
“That’s not true!” “It is so!”
Rae was thrown against the wall
where she stuck. She used the unlocking charm on the wall behind her falling a
few feet to the ground.
Suddenly, the bench of the Gryffindor
table slammed into Ashley’s legs, flipping her head over heels.
“I warned you.” Scott Altaer said,
sweetly. “Cast a spell on Rae, and the table attacks. Mysterious thing too.”
“That’s quite enough.” Professor
Maddox said. “Mr. Altaer, no spells in the great hall”
“What, am I supposed to apologise?
Sorry, Professor, but all Hogwarts students know not to tell lies.”
“You were in charge in my momentary
absence and this is what happens?”
“They locked me into the teacher’s
lounge.”
“Where you blasted down the door?!”
“No, peeves set off fireworks near
the door. I could still hear what was going on. Rae shouted she was going to
open the door, but couldn’t because of dueling noises. It was Ashley’s voice.
“Why didn’t you use the unlocking
charm? Why didn’t you just wait for help.”
“It’s a deadbolt, and I was supposed
to be breaking up the fights. They were just waiting for you to leave!”
“Good. Now, 500 words for you lot on
why not to play with doors. Twenty four hours. I’m done with this. Scones
anyone?”
“Ooh! I like scones!” Scott cheered,
snatching one.
Ashley grumbled.
Professor Celeste met Scott’s eye as
he turned. She mouthed “Six hours.” And walked away....
