Armour
Chapter 15
Some people’s armour is visible, like a coat or a hat.
They wear it strongly with pride and leave it at that.
It’s easy to notice, easy to see,
Clear to people like you and me.
Some people’s armour is more concealed.
They keep it inside them, it burns when they feel
The things that people try to push away,
Yet what they don’t know is how long it will stay.
I have two sets of armour,
Which keeps me safe,
But destroys all the laughter
That attempts to escape.
One is a wall, which surrounds my heart,
It feels so cold, though we can’t be apart.
The other is gloves to help me fight
Everything that threatens to extinguish my light.
They wear it strongly with pride and leave it at that.
