My Notes For All Core Subjects, Year One
written by Lindsay Clearwater
Updated version of the book "My Notes, From A Ravenclaw (Year 1)" by Anne Pickering. Here you can find my notes for all nine lessons from the seven main subjects; Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration. Remember that although there are notes here, I might have missed something and it is still extremely important to pay attention and take notes in your lessons. This is just to help struggling first-year students who think they may have missed vital information in the lesson. I will try to update one chapter/lesson every day. Day started: July 11 2020

HOM-101 Lesson One: Intro to History of Magic
Chapter 6
AN INTRODUCTION TO HISTORY:
- history is important because we are still living it, and because we are going to make it.
- history is also important because we cannot possibly hope to survive without it.
--> if we didn't study history, we wouldn't know that there is a Statute that separates us from Muggles
--> we wouldn't know about the Trace and that the underage can't use magic outside of school
- there would be laws broken every day and wars breaking out every second, because we just wouldn't know
CLASSROOM PROCEDURE:
- highly encouraged to take notes
- professor's goals: for the students to understand how people have shaped history, the ideas, people and messages are important, not the specific dates
- do not claim or plagiarize others' work, do not copy word for word from the lesson.
