My Notes For All Core Subjects, Year One

Updated version of the book "My Notes, From A Ravenclaw (Year 1)" by Anne Pickering. Here you can find my notes for all nine lessons from the seven main subjects; Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration. Remember that although there are notes here, I might have missed something and it is still extremely important to pay attention and take notes in your lessons. This is just to help struggling first-year students who think they may have missed vital information in the lesson. I will try to update one chapter/lesson every day. Day started: July 11 2020

HOM-101 Lesson Two: Magical Beginnings

Chapter 13
MAGICAL BEGINNINGS:
- many theories, most popular are:
--> Theory of Uno Mas
--> Migration Theory
--> Theory of Hocus Pocus

- Theory of Uno Mas: first wizard -- Uno Mas (not real name)
--> Ancient Aramaic -- The First Magi
--> theory presented by William Marangue "The Theory of Uno Mas" (book)
--> believed that he lived in the time of reptiles and before cavemen, father of all witches and wizards
~> also believed that he made the first wand

- Migration Theory: magical and Muggle lived side by side for years (wizards and witches didn't know they had magic)
--> Descent of Blizz (Ice Age) -- magical people left Muggles & created their own villages
--> 1535 -- Ho Mao Tseng (wizard historian) followed tracks of unknowns who practiced magic
~> he found nothing, wizardkind prob died in avalanche
--> 1800s (1803 & 1832), Gringotts Curse-Breakers unearthed spells, jewelry, clothing, tools, relics of ppl who migrated to France during Descent of Blizz
--> boldly claimed that there was a natural progression to magic

- Theory of Hocus Pocus: idea that magic came out of thin air naturally
--> women began to use magic as a form of persuasion
~> came from a "natural progression" of magical tendencies
~> means that nature has a tendency to force specific habits on humans who react differently than a magical person would
--> evidence: Birch Bark Manuscript
~> stored at the Brussels Museum of Ancient Magical History
~> kept by Prof. Hugo Bjorken
--> other artifacts such as tools, Diricaul feathers (writing utensils), unicorn horn necklaces

DISAGREEMENT & SUPPORT:
- Dr. Josian Loppet disagrees with Theory of Uno Mas & wrote a book "The Anti-Uno Mas Theory"
--> "Those who support the suggestions found in the Theory of Uno Mas mistakenly claim we lived among the dinosaurs. If this claim were to be true, then our relations to such ancestry should worry even the most liberal of conservatives."
- Uno Mas is most widely accepted, scholars think Hocus Pocus more suited
- Dr. Loppet -- strong component of Hocus Pocus & Migration
--> worked w/ Prof. Bjorken & Mme. Lilth Greenswald for who would get manuscripts
--> ^ Prof. Bjorken won
- Ho Mao Tseng WAS the father of the Migration Theory, strongest supporter
--> believed to side with Dr. Loppet & Prof. Bjorken
