Emily Potter's Story

What if Harry had an older sister? What if she was famous and not him? Everything would be different, wouldn't it? (Feedback is very welcome! And I'm still updating!)

So-called Welcome Home
Chapter 2
"Hurry up, girl," Uncle Vernon growls impatiently.
"Yes, good to see you, too! I missed you so much as well!" I say sarcastically. George grabs me from behind and pulls me into a hug.
"Oi! Boy. Leave her alone!" Uncle Vernon shouts. I shoot Uncle Vernon a look. Fred comes along.
"Millimetre!" Fred calls. I inwardly groan at his use of that nickname. I guess you want to know where that nickname comes from. Well, he used to call me Milly, then I taught him a bit of muggle maths and since then, I have been Millimetre.
"We're going," Uncle Vernon says firmly. I groan and wave goodbye to the boys. We walk into the car-park and get into the car. "You are still not to tell your brother anything about your abnormal-ness! Got it?"
"What? His letter hasn't arrived yet?" I ask incredulously.
"Well," he says nastily. "I haven't let him read it. We had no choice with you, you remembered," he pauses, looking around to see if anyone's around and then whispers the word, "magic," he shudders and then goes back to talking normally. "Your brother, however, doesn't know about it."
I can feel myself contorting with rage. I have been so excited for Harry to come to Hogwarts and now I'm being told that he isn't coming. As I speak, my voice wavers, "I'm telling him. This isn't something you have control of. Harry is coming with me!"
Uncle Vernon grabs a fistful of my hair and pulls it hard. I cry out in pain. "He is not. You won't tell!"
I turn away from him as we pull of. My vision blurs and my nose starts to sting. This is so unfair! How can he take Hogwarts away from him? I'm about to cry. I've never cried in front of Uncle Vernon. I blink back the tears.

"Remember what I said, you aren't to tell the boy," Uncle Vernon hisses menacingly in my ear. I shake him off of me. Who's he to tell me what to do?
"Vernon!" Aunt Petunia sighs dramatically and drops her cleaning stuff. She smothers him with kisses.
Yet again, I add a sarcastic comment, "I've missed you, too, Aunt Petunia!"
"Emz!" Harry screams. I run to give him a hug.
"Harry! I've missed you, baby bro!" I say, this time there's no sarcasm or venom in my voice, just pure love. Uncle Vernon shoots me a warning look. "Harry, I have so much to tell you!"
I walk over to the cupboard.
"Ahem," Dudley says, sanctimoniously. "That's not your bedroom anymore! You and Harry share my spare room."
I frown but Harry nods. I follow Harry to our new room.
"What's with the new room, baby bro?" I ask him. Harry explains all about his letters and how Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon had, Seemingly kindly, let Harry and I move up to this room. I frown. "Harry, I have something to tell you. We're mag-"
"Emily Petunia Potter! You come down here this instant!" Uncle Vernon calls. See, my Mum persuaded my Dad to give me the middle name Petunia because after everything, Mum still loved her sister. Harry cocks his head to the side, confused. I shrug but know exactly why I'm being called. They must have heard me.
"You're going back to your cupboard and you are going to stay there until you have to go back to that stupid school. I'll bring you food and your aunt will escort you to the bathroom whenever you need it, just call," Uncle Vernon says. Grabbing my hair, he thrusts me into the cupboard I thought I had finally escaped from. He locks the door and I'm alone. I have my watch in here with me so I have a plan. For now, I wait.
