The Possibilities of a Patronus S-W
Chapter 8
103. Salmon
Having this quick swimmer as your patronus means you find comfort in being asked for advice. You still possess an uncanny intelligence and wisdom, so much to the point you may have thought you were a Rave to begin with, but later realized you were a Puff, and the wisdom you have can be used to help people. While you can be bombarded with requests for help or a nugget of wisdom, you still love to help people, be it with relationship advice, career advice or just something as simple as helping someone pick their dinner. As someone who is very wise, people often come to you for advice and help. Not only that, but you are very kind and charismatic. People are drawn to you and tend to trust you quickly. You will help anyone who comes to you and find it to be one of the highest compliments that you are so often sought out. Despite this, you are by no means someone to be messed with. Sometimes people underestimate you based on your friendly and helpful attitude, but that is a severe miscalculation on their’ part. Your wisdom, leadership skills, and powerful personality, all make you someone to be reckoned with. Not only that, but you are courageous and unafraid to face things head on. You are a thoughtful person with a great love of history and heritage, and no matter how far you roam or how high up the ladder you climb, you never fail to take the time to look back at where you came from. You are also sharp and flexible enough to follow the waves where they take you, being willing to both take risks or play it safe depending on when it is more prudent to do so. If you ever come to the end of the line, trapped against the wall by hopelessness as it sharpens its claws for you, this Patronus will swim to your rescue. It will emerge from your wand with a splash of pure white water, and all at once, the waves will crash over you, clearing your vision and your mind and allowing you to see your surroundings more clearly. You also are a very well-grounded person and usually know what you want and will stop at nothing to get it. You are someone who will do well in practically anything they set out to do because of your strong will-power, bold charisma, and kind concern for others. All of this makes you a joy to work beside and one of the most adventurous, helpful friends anyone could hope to have. So keep rocking that fantastic personality of yours and in times of trouble your patronus will be ready to bring you back the control and comfort you need to be the best you can be.
104. Scops Owl (unusual)
The patronus of an owl symbolizes a strong aura of wisdom, and individuals with it shine intellectually. They are not very social people, but they tend to be very admired for the impression their blatant knowledge of the world. Others tend to be comfortable going to these persons for advice, because they know they are trustworthy. They enjoy this reputation, as they love having the ability to steer others into the proper direction. Common in bird patronuses, the owl has a strong spirit that gives them a freedom to do as they please, with little interference of the opinion’s of society. Owls in general are associated primarily with wisdom. They are solitary birds and the deadliest of nighttime hunters, with exceptional eyesight and silent grace. Scops owls specifically are known for their small size and their distinctive, singular call – unlike screech owls that make a wide array of sounds, the Scops owl uses only one that makes it easy to identify. You find comfort in being one of a kind. You are perfectly comfortable being by yourself, not only because you enjoy your own company but because you like being unique and special. You don’t need to puff yourself up – you are already the coolest person in the room, because you’re you. Your guardian will appear whenever you’re close to forgetting this truth, swooping silently out of your wand and facing your enemy with cool intellect and sharp claws. It will then land on your shoulder when you likewise spread your wings, ready to fight back.
105. Seagull
The patronus of a seagull represents, as with most bird patronuses, a very creative mind. These people can soar intellectually, because they tend to see things in a different light. They have goals which they focus on, and at times they can be blind to other things and people around them because they are so set on this one thing. Their social range varies, but whether or not they prefer to speak with others, they do enjoy being around them a good bit of the time. They are good channelers of energy, and can fuel their creativity and drive even further by channeling the energy of others without even realizing they are doing so.
106. Seal (unusual)
With your seal patronus–a somewhat rare patronus, might I add!–these traits shine right beside your creative mind. Seals represent an imaginative nature, both when you’re awake and in your dreams. Similarly, seals are seen as playful, silly creatures. However, they also can symbolize personal strength; do not be afraid to stand behind your individual ideas and your feelings, as they are your own and a part of you. As the owner of a seal patronus, your greatest comfort is imagination. The freedom to let your brain wander and create without bounds is when you are at your peak performance. Your mind runs free and brings forth a plethora of brilliant ideas–some happy, some sad, some even frightening at times. A Seal patronus can represent an owner who is very playful and energetic. This also represents an owner who never lets there own emotions get in the way of being successful. A seal patronus also represents an owner who loves adventure, and it’s always ready to explore. You may be a little more cerebral and in your head than some in our house, but that doesn’t make you any less driven and committed to making your dreams come true. You love the idea of possibility, so you are, true to your house, incredibly resourceful. You also may be a bit of a romantic and love the idea of travel. Should you ever come to a dead-end and find yourself sinking into despair, your guardian will burst from your wand in a flash of white light, swimming through air to your side. It will glide around you, white splashes of light coming off of it in waves, but instead of the waves hitting you like cold water, they will wash over a warm breeze and fill you up with hope. You are a force to be reckoned with, and you feel that, when given the chance, you can do anything. Having a harp seal as your patronus means you find comfort in being taught, and then left to your own devices. In school, you always found you did best when something was explained, and then you were left to try it yourself. You always need just one explanation, and then you don’t need any further help. You are trusting, and the seal exemplifies this, but your determination and love of hardwork make sure you will get through anything.
107. Shark (unusual)
People who have this Patronus are known for excelling in business environments, being leaders, and sometimes being a bit intimidating. Also, they tend to have good skin and a great set of teeth.Sharks are the masters of the deep, symbolizing authority and primal instinct. They are dynamic creatures with no fear who will always find a way to survive no matter what the squalls. Having a Shark as your Patronus means that you find comfort in authority. You like having control over the world around you and knowing where you stand in it. You are someone who longs to be large and in charge. You desire for control in your own affairs and tend to value power and independence. Your guardian also is a survivor through and through, appealing to your value self-preservation. Your Patronus will swim from your wand when you’re at your most helpless and help you reassert yourself and rip the reins of control out of your enemy’s grasp. Then you can bare your teeth with pride and scare away your inner-demons.
108. Shrew
Those with shrews as their patronus are also known for their resilience and their endless planning for the future. Yes, shrews are quite cautious creatures, prone to saving and preparing for what’s to come. They can be a bit nosy and are known to be collectors. With their keen senses, they are quite witty and know how to avoid unsavory situations. Small but mighty is a good motto for you, as the little things can often have the largest impact. More of a side-note really, but the word shrew can also be used to refer to an ‘aggressive or ill-tempered woman.’ Seeing as how this definition emerged in a time during which a woman speaking out of turn was considered aggressive, this can be interpreted to ‘a woman who is assertive.’ Do with that what you will! As someone with a shrew patronus, you most likely find comfort from being in control. When you have the reigns, you’re able to handle the situation in your own way. Shrew’s are known for being lively creatures with keen eyes; they love to explore. Chaos can’t make you flinch because you know you’ll be able to make it through. You can quickly analyze any situation and craft a witty plan, then guide yourself towards your goal. Keep moving forward, and don’t be afraid to take a few risks!
109. Siberian Cat
Siberian cats are well known for being affectionate, loving, attentive and noisy fluffballs, and are calm animals with the ability to calm people, making them perfect therapy cats or companions for a lonely soul. A Siberian cat patronus can represent an owner who is incredibly kind and playful, they always make time for there friends and hate leaves others out. The owner of this patronus is also very protective and loving to there friends and family, and pretty much everyone they meet. As well they can represent an owner who is very adventurous, but goes for adventures in need of something to learn. Having this feline as your patronus means you find comfort in simply being there for others, in any way you can manage. You’ve been known to talk to an old lady when she looks lonely at the bus stop, bring food to a sad or sick friend, hugging your mum when she cries because something went wrong during the day or even just talking to a stranger having a bad day. While your version of being there for others can be seen as simple, to the person receiving your attention adores it, and adores you. You are forever aware of who you are and where you came from, and you strive to be just as great as those who came before you, whether they’re your family members or just people you admire. That history also makes you a very reflective and dependable person – you not only are the sort to think back on the victories of the past and try to renew them, but you also clearly see the mistakes made in the past and work to correct them. You are very resilient, as you know full well that you can be just as strong as your idols, if you only work for it. Should you ever find yourself lost in the winter of despair, this Patronus will leap out of your wand with silent, stunning grace to your side. Within its eyes you will see the wisdom of the ages – the wisdom that can only be seen in the determined smirk of a long-lost general, the patient hands of a devoted craftsman, the warm arms of a beloved grandfather. And as you look into those eyes, you will be imbued with all of their strength – the ferocity of that general, the skill of that craftsman, and the kindness of that grandfather – and you’ll be ready to continue the story being written in their image – as the wonderful, powerful being you are.
110. Snowy Owl (unusual)
Snowy owls value large, unrestricted spaces. People producing snowy owl patronuses often have a “special space” they go to when they’re feeling down. Coping skills may include going for walks, spending time alone, checking in with a close friend or partner, exercise, and sunbathing. A Snowy Owl patronus represents an owner who is very wise and intelligent. This as a patronus can show that the owner of this patronus find comfort in facts and knowledge. You are very intelligent and easily use your knowledge in situations when it is needed, especially for a friend or family, but even for a stranger. You use the endless things you’ve learned about anything to help anyone you can. If someone disagrees with your opinion you stand your ground and refuse to give up, because you have the facts and intelligence to prove your point. You have facts to prove every decision you make, or you are so curious, no matter how bad an idea sounds you do it anyway, to learn. Snowy owls are also unique in that they are monogamous. You are likely to place even more emphasis on personal relationships when producing this patronus. This does not necessarily mean you are especially extroverted or gregarious. You merely place a great deal of importance on long-term interpersonal relationships. You may feel comfort when receiving validation from those you love most.
111. Sparrow/Sparrowhawk
A sparrow hawk patronus can represent an owner who values leadership, but knows that time to step in. As well as that, it can represent a witch or wizard with great observation skills, who is able to step out to see all sides of the story. You are very logical and focus on seeing every opinion to make sure yours is correct. Sparrow hawks represent focus and determination. They remind us to understand the past, the present, and the future, and to not be so caught up in minor inconveniences. Above all, the sparrow hawk represents alertness, as they are known as warning totems that let others know when to avoid a situation. Having a Sparrow as your Patronus means you find comfort in convention. Routine and tradition appeal to you, and you like feeling like you belong and are needed by your inner-circle. You’re not really the sort to go out seeking attention – you like your creature comforts and are single-minded in your personal ambitions. But woe to anyone who presumes that your targeted ambition and modest nature makes you weak or ineffectual – you are strong in your convictions and devoted to the ones you care about, and those two traits make you a force to be reckoned with. Whenever you find yourself on the precipice of despair, this Patronus will swoop out of your wand to your rescue. It will sing a sweet, uplifting song in your ear, and the relentless rhythm will steady your heart rate and encourage you to clench your jaw a little tighter and raise your wand a little higher. If the dementors think you are so insignificant, then you’ll just have to prove them wrong! As your patronus is the sparrow hawk, you find comfort in preparation. It is best for you to be ready, that way you can formulate a plan before jumping into a situation head-on. If you have an inkling of what to expect, you easily examine the challenge and then take it in stride. This helps you stay on track and level-headed, as you dislike to focus on small details for too long.
112. Sphynx Cat
Cats in general are symbolic of curiosity, independence, and patience. Sphinxes are generally known to be curious, affectionate attention-seekers who love being around people, to the extent that some cat breeders claim it’s the perfect cat for dog lovers to own. They’ve even been used as therapy animals! Having a Sphynx as your Patronus means you find comfort in affection. You love love, which seems like an unusual trait to find in individualistic Slytherin house, but it actually fits rather well when one remembers that Slytherins are also ambitious sorts. You are someone who likes being well-liked by the people around you – you are daring and are unafraid of standing out, and so people generally tend to look at you with admiration. Now of course if you encounter haters, you’re not the sort to crumple and change yourself to please them, but you generally like to have more friends than enemies. It makes you very charming and amiable compared to some of your serpentine house-mates, which makes you unique and special! Should you ever find yourself shrinking back against the kind of darkness that surrounds and traps you like monsters coming out of your closet, your Patronus will come for you. It will bound out of your wand, rolling around once in the air before leaping over to your shoulder and rubbing up against your cheek. Its hairless body will radiate warmth and comfort, and you won’t be able to keep the smile off your face as it bounds off your shoulder again at your opponent, playfully chasing the nightmares away as if they were mice.
113. St. Bernard
Despite their size, St. Bernards are very sweet, gentle dogs. They are very friendly, and rarely bark without a good reason. St. Bernards thrive in family conditions and are calm, patient, and watchful. Having a St. Bernard as a patronus means that you find comfort in knowing that the ones you love are safe. When you fight, it is not so much a fight to protect yourself as it is to protect the ones you love. You are at your strongest when you approach a situation calmly. For you, it is best to wait and observe until you have a clear idea of how your enemies fight instead of racing in headfirst. As a patronus, the St. Bernard will be there for you whenever you need help to defend the ones you love. With this patronus, you’ll rarely need to worry about stray spells hitting a friend or family member. The St. Bernard will give you warning before anything bad can happen, and will hold off a swarm of enemies in order to give you a moment of calm, a moment to watch, amidst a sea of darkness. Saint Bernards are a swiss dog breed, specifically bred to be rescue dogs. As I’m sure you can then imagine, these dogs are quite lovable but are in no way cowardly lap dogs. They were once used to assist travelers and later as guard dogs. Saint Bernards are a well-known and widely-respected breed. Those with a saint Bernard patronus find comfort in helping others. It comes as second nature, as you are willing to risk a lot for your friends and family. You can easily tell when someone is in need of a friend, and you are almost always there for them, even if it’s someone you barely know or have just met. When nearing a possibly dangerous situation, you’re always cautious and on high alert, but still prepared to take a few risks. In the end, knowing that you’re there for someone comes as a solace for both that person and yourself. A St. Bernard patronus can also represent an owner who values positivity, and tends to be more emotional. As well it represents an owner who crave fun and adventure.
114. Stag (unusual)
Your patronus is a stag! Often titled as the King of the Forest, the stag is a magnificent creature with nimble legs and extraordinary antlers. The stag tends to be brown in color, and it can be found in a variety of habitats, including prairies, tundras, and (of course) the forest. In different cultures, the stag has come to symbolize many things, some of the most notable including: sensitivity, gentleness, harmony, and independence. If the stag is your patronus, you find comfort in strength. You’re confident in your abilities to overcome adversity and take the world in stride. Sometimes, you need to be reminded of your capabilities, but you never stay down for long. Whether your friends give you that little nudge or you take the time to reflect on yourself, you always manage to get back up. You know you can face any challenge that comes your way, and you’re always there to watch over your friends and loved ones to help them overcome their obstacles. At the end of the day, you are prepared to face anything and everything to reach your goal. Having a stag as your patronus means that you find comfort in order. The world is a rushing river full of billions of little details, and it is often difficult to wade through everything that it has to offer. To put it simply: the world is full of chaos (though that is not necessarily a negative thing). You, however, thrive when you are able to step out of the rushing current and breathe. Everything has a place, and it is only when they are put into those places that they can begin to work together (as we see in places like our forests). You seek the peace and balance in the world. Order is something that often only comes with time and hard work. When you’re at your lowest point, with your back up against the wall, this Patronus will appear to remind you of the inner core of strength within you, and encourage you to stand against the threat with your head held high. The dementors wish for a battle? Well, then they shall have one – and they will lose. As a patronus, the stag will be there for you whenever you become caught in the chaos of the world and cannot find a way out. In battle, your patronus will bring balance while everything else roars around you. It will lead you through the hardship and help you bring order back to the world.
115. Stoat
A stoat, or an ermine, is commonly known as a short-tailed weasel. Stoats represent the youthful and beautiful. In some religions, they are sacred animals whose white winter coats symbolize purity; they can otherwise be used to show high status or boldness. If a stoat is your patronus, you find comfort in purity. “Death over defilement” is a phrase sometimes associated with stoats, due to a myth about a queen in Brittany being inspired by the creature’s willingness to risk its life as opposed to ruining its snowy white fur. Having a Stoat Patronus means that you find comfort in movement. You are not someone who likes being fenced in – appropriate to the house of snakes, you like having the freedom to move and contort on a whim. Stagnancy makes you uncomfortable. More than anything, you like constant mobility, preferably in the upward variety, like toward a goal you are chasing. The thrill of the hunt is just exciting to you as actually catching your prey, because the journey alone fulfills you. This guardian will sprout from your wand when you are feeling hopelessly trapped and too chained down by negativity to move or think. It will quickly scurry up to your side and encourage you to keep going and to bust free of all of the emotional fences that try to keep you contained. Your life is a journey, and it’s not even close to being over yet! You would much rather stay true and pure to yourself and your morals. You take pride in what you believe in and do not appreciate rough turmoil. Instead, you take the high road granting respect and keeping your head held high.
116. Swallow
Swallows have been a homing beacon for sailors for generations – because they don’t fly very far out to sea, their presence in the sky would signal to a man at sea that land is near and, thus, that his voyage is coming to an end. For this reason the birds have also been associated with hope, love, and devotion, as any sailor would love the idea that, like the swallow, their friends and family are there waiting for them back on the mainland after their long journey. Having a Swallow as your Patronus means you find comfort in happy endings. Your main drive is their ambition and passion, and nothing makes one happier than finally achieving their goal and winning the prize they’d long sought. When you are at your lowest point, devoid of hope, the Swallow is the guardian that will tell you your goal is within reach – that you’re almost back to land, almost at the finish line. The swallow is the very sign of nobility and grace. Their loyalty is unwavering to the people they care about and are usually the ones to make the hard, but right, decisions. They are the ones who give advice, usually for relationships, whether romantic or family. They usually take a hit for someone because they know they can handle it the best, and they usually can. It is your beacon of hope – the star that will guide you out of the darkness. It will always fly to you when you have need of it and will fly beside you until you make it through the night.
117. Swift
Swifts are highly aerial birds, and they tend to look a lot like swallows. They’re present on all continents except Antarctica, though they also aren’t found in the far north, large deserts or many oceanic islands. They tend to migrate a lot, and they can survive short periods of cold weather due to torpor, a state similar to hibernation. Having this speedy flyer as your patronus means you like to make fast decisions, and you tend to move faster with your life faster than others. You work well under pressure, as the need for speed makes you turn out better work, and you’re able to work well in business, which often requires a snap decision too. You make decisions about your own life fast too, like choosing what you want to do with your day, or your year, and you don’t like to waste time thinking about the details right now, you’ll do it later. You’ve perfected the art of a quick decision, so they rarely backfire on you, but when they do, they REALLY go wrong. Look to the swift, and while it’s fine to make snap decisions, you do sometimes need to evaluate a choice first before you make it, so when making large decisions that will affect you or others for years to come, slow down and make sure you really look at the problem from all angles.
118. Thestral (very rare)
Thestrals are a rare type of mythical creature that can only be seen if you’ve witnessed death and gained the emotional understanding of what death means. They pose no threat to humans, nor are they harbingers of bad luck. Thestrals represent a journey to another dimension, and if you choose to trust them, they will reward you with faithfulness and obedience. Having this oddity for a patronus means you find speed comforting. You can’t stand being stuck in traffic, or being held up for any reason! You’ve been known to huff a little when the elevator needs to make more stops than yours, and don’t like lines at all! You always like to arrive with a little time to spare. Having a Thestral as a patronus means that you find comfort in finality. You are comforted in knowing that a project is finished, that you have cleared another hurdle in your life. To you, it is not an end, but an invitation to begin a new journey. It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort, to work on a project all the way through. And it takes a special strength to step back and let go once you’ve finished. Finality, of course, can also mean death, but that is why your patronus is here. You understand that death is inevitable and that there must be death to be life, so you don’t fear or dread it, but you also know that when you die, you’ll need to pass on and let go.
Unless you want to live a terrible half-life as a ghost, full of regrets and grasping at the humanity you once had, you have to live without regret and take every risk you can. You must live a life worth remembering, so that you can die happily and pass the torch on to the future. Whenever life seems unbearable and your mind wanders toward endless emptiness, your guardian will burst from your wand with the gentle grace of an angel and instill in you the courage to fly into the dark. Death is not an enemy to be conquered – it is your friend…and thus you have nothing in the world left to fear. As a patronus, the Thestral will do its best to ensure that you will not experience any horrors, any sorrow. Your patronus being a thestral might mean you feel as though you stand alone most of the time. You might feel burdened by something in your past, or an experience, and the thestral is here to comfort you by reminding you that you have made it through your darkest days. If you ever feel as if you cannot take another step, your patronus being a thestral will be a constant whisper in your ear that you are always strong enough to keep moving forward. The Thestral, you see, is a patronus that truly knows what it’s like to experience loss. It will prevent that loss for as long as possible, and, if you ever do lose someone during a battle, your patronus will protect you as you grieve, remain a beacon of light in the darkness, and help you up when you’re ready to keep moving forward. his is the guardian that will always remind you of both when you are at your lowest point and will help you get back on your feet, spread your wings, and fly.
119. Tiger/Tigress (unusual)
The tiger is a very strong, independent patronus. They have a fierce personality to them that they show openly, and have no problem doing it. However, there is more to them than just an impression, they have parts of their past that are a bit dark, and that has caused them to grow a bit cynical. They don’t like to show their feelings to others, as they like to maintain the impression for themselves and for others that they are unbreakable. They are not fast to warm up to anyone, but once they do they will protect you with all that they have. A tiger patronus reflects a unique amount of willpower and courage; you are able to rise above all conflicts and pass through all forms of adversity with grace and skill. In some cultures, tigers are seen as the king of all animals, so you are certainly not a follower but a leader. They’re most commonly identified by their strong emotions, their bravery, and their unpredictability.
Having a tigress as your patronus means that you find comfort in taking charge of a situation. This does not necessarily mean that you have to be the leader, it just means that you won’t allow yourself to be pushed around by others! As a patronus, the tigress is a strong creature to have by your side. She will make sure that no one will be able to touch you, and when you begin to falter, she will push you to continue. With the tigress, you will find that you will never flounder in battle, as she will always be there to push back swarming enemies and allow you to find your footing, to find control. If your patronus is a tiger, you find comfort in facing challenges on your own. This doesn’t come as difficult for you, as you move through life with great, ground-shaking strides. You are confident when people look up to you for advice or leadership, and you take little time planning and going about business. Why would you bother? You can easily trust your intuition and have no problem going with your gut; that’s typically when things turn out the greatest. When someone gives you a task, you take it with a grin and get right to it, and thus people have no hesitations when it comes to asking you for help or telling you to do something. It’ll definitely get done, whether it be by conventional means or your own special way.
120. Tonkinese Cat
Tonkinese cats are the love child between the Burmese cat and the Siamese, and it is a friendly, active and loving kitty, and it tends to be a cat that demands attention and affection. They’re also intelligent and active, as they love to jump to high places and will learn tricks quickly. They’re also vocal, though their voice isn’t as raspy as the Siamese. Having this soft feline as your patronus means you find being an all-rounder to be of comfort. You don’t want to be the BEST at something, but you want to be good at lots of things, like a jack-of-all-trades. You want to be good at lots of things, just like the Tonk cat, as they are good at lots of things, and they’re so versatile. You like to be of use to as many people as possible, so being good at replacing light globes, organising drawers, driving and dancing makes you feel good knowing you’re a help to others, and others truly do love to accept your help, because they know you’re happy to help and you’ll get the job done and properly, the first time! As a patronus it can represent an owner that finds comfort in playfulness and confidence, and in the time of need, is always ready to hear a joke. The owner of this patronus always tries or hopes someone else with attempt to lighten the mood when things get rough. The owner of this patronus can be particularly playful as well, but the owner of this patronus is more competitive and ambitious with there playfulness, wanting to have fun, but also being incredibly serious.
121. Tortoiseshell Cat
If your patronus is a tortoiseshell cat, consider yourself lucky…literally! In Celtic folklore, tortoiseshell cats were seen as good luck charms which brought good fortune into the home. Still now, the Scottish and the Irish see them as symbols of luck. It’s likely that you feel like you need some luck in your life every now and then, or that you find yourself a very lucky person! You also probably take comfort in someone who will defend you fiercely when the need arises, especially when it feels like you cannot do that yourself! The tortoishell cat will bring you comfort due to its ability to stand out from a crowd, and protect its loved ones!! Tortoiseshell cats also have very distinct personalities; they are strong-willed, sometimes have short tempers, and are quite protective. Having a calico cat as your patronus means that you find strength in difference and change. This might sound a bit counter intuitive, as change can tend to be quite scary and cause big shifts in life! In reality, it means that you can’t live when you’re standing still. You are at your strongest when you’re discovering new things and participating in unique experiences. As someone who is willing to embrace change, embrace the unknown, there is no doubt that you are brimming with daring and courage. As a patronus, the calico cat will be there for you in you rare moments of fear and doubt. She will remind you why you’re fighting, remind you of your cause and the change that you’re trying to bring about. She will make sure that enemies cannot hold you back, and will help you break free, even in the darkest of times. With this patronus, you most likely find comfort in company. Just like your patronus, you are a bit protective and you do all you can to protect your friends and family. Being around your friends gives you a boost of both energy and confidence. Depending on the scenario, it can also give you a sense of purpose. Teamwork is rarely an issue, but you also tend to thrive in smaller groups. Not only that, but you’re unafraid to stand up for your others when they really need it.
122. Unicorn (very rare)
Unicorns are extremely rare creatures, and have never been sighted by a Muggle, thought they like to fantasize all about them! It is said that unicorn blood can save you from death, even if it is already there for you, though to have the gall to do it will cost you, and you will live only a half life, as told to us by Firenze in the Forbidden Forest. In Muggle Mythology, drinking from its horn with supposedly cure epilepsy, poisoning and stomach trouble, and is a tricky one to capture other legends say only a virgin woman can catch it, as she needs to be thrown in front of. The unicorn supposedly then leaps into her lap and ‘suckles it’, then it is lead to a new place. This legend refers to the purity and goodness of the creature, as it is thought to be able to make poisoned water drinkable and heal any sickness.
As you travel throughout life, your thirst for knowledge will bring forth success in your endeavors. Above all, you believe in the power of dreams and wishes, and it’s hard to make you hang your head in defeat! Your guardian brings out the very best in you – when it appears beside you, its pure desire to protect you is more than enough to encourage you to likewise protect it, because you know how cruel the world can be to the unicorn’s virtues. This also plays into your active, physical Wampus side. Your Patronus is your guardian by encouraging you to become its guardian, transforming you into your own hero. Having this mythical creature as a patronus shows you find comfort in elusivity. Much like the unicorn, only certain things or people will draw you out. You don’t hate people, not at all, but being a special occasion style person makes you feel like people appreciate you more, and besides, people use you for your kindness and try to take advantage of you, so staying hard to find protects you. Voles are unusual mouse-like creatures that grow very quickly and have incredibly short lifespans. In Scottish mythology there is a creature called a Lavellan that greatly resembles a water vole, and it was believed that dipping one’s pelt in water could create a healing tonic for ill livestock. Having a Vole as your Patronus means you find comfort in taking care of others. You are a “mothering” sort to the ones you love and you look after their interests as well as your own. When someone you love is in pain, you’ll be there in a hurry to both tend their wounds and give a good beating to whomever is responsible. You have a big heart and a noble nature, so the small and weak tend to gravitate and look up to you. When darkness haunts your doorstep like an unwelcome visitor, this Patronus will come for you. Its size will not matter, for when it crawls out of your wand, up your arm, and up to your shoulder to rub up against your cheek, you will feel a curtain of reassurance and calm wash over you. 124. Vulture (unusual)
Vultures are fearless. Having your patronus take the form of a vulture means that you have the strength in you to be yourself, flaws and all, should you come to accept yourself inside and out. Sometimes it’s hard facing the world, or even your own internal struggles and you may be tempted to reject it, but you have the power to face it and come out on top. This is not a strength everyone has… to be honest with oneself. Would I be wrong in saying you are a patient and tolerant person? That’s a very common trait in a vulture. Naturally, I don’t just mean in the sense that you don’t mind waiting for a new episode of something you like, which may make anyone a bit fidgety, haha. The animal form just shows off what is most true about yourself and what animal exhibits that combination just right in nature. As a vulture, you are a survivor. You are intelligent, adaptable, accepting, and not afraid to be who you are, either. You’re likely an accepting person, and are willing to go with the situational flow and accept another for what they are, where others may not. Are you also called upon, or perhaps even take it upon yourself, to clean up others’ messes? No matter how bad they are? A vulture is dutiful, getting things done even if they don’t always like it. Do you also like to analyze things? Vultures are quite intelligent and often like looking at stuff from perspectives no one has thought to try before. There’s a reason the bird isn’t a common animal to get, as most people don’t quite fit enough for their patronus to grow these great wings and soar.
125. Weasel
Weasels are slick, furry predators that, by and large, are associated with sneakiness or lack of trustworthiness. Despite this common conception, however, they actually have several different symbolic interpretations. In Greece it was thought that an unhappy bride could turn into a weasel and, consequently, take great joy in wrecking the bridal gown and festivities. Having a weasel as your Patronus means you find comfort in precognition. You are very good at telling which way the wind will blow, and appropriate to your house, you are opportunistic enough to take advantage of it. You can blend into most situations you find yourself in, whether it’s a big party with a bunch of friends or a quiet business meeting. It’s comforting to you when you can read other people and the situations you find yourself in well. Even though weasels are know to be loners, preferring the company of only their own species or just themselves, they are loyal to those similar to them. There has been moments when large groups of weasels would carry the body of a dead weasel to bury them. These animals are mysterious and are not likely to show their true self to just anybody. This can mean that you have a bit of a manipulative side but it also makes you a cautious and sharp-witted person who will always put your and your family’s safety over chasing attention or glory for yourself. If you ever find yourself blinded by the darkness of depression and stumbling to get your bearings, this Patronus will sweep out of your wand with a flourish, skirting down your arm to sit on top of your wand hand. It will curl its tail around your wrist, staring out past your enemy, and then a second later, will have darted past it, for it can already see your escape waiting for you just beyond the dementors’ rotted, calloused hands. Additionally, a variety of choices allows you to be smart about your future and make informed decisions. You will still look after yourself first, but finding something bigger than yourself – like world peace, or justice, or nobility, or heritage, or family, or true love – that you can fight for would be the greatest goal you could ever reach. When the fires of Hell are glowing, this Patronus will ride to your rescue, putting itself in peril to defend you.
