Our Lord may go by many names such as: He Who Must Not Be Named, You Know Who, the Dark Lord and of course Voldemort.  He is the last descendant of Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. What people don't know is that Voldemort is pronounced with a silent "t" and his original name was Thomas Marvolo Riddle.

Our Lord's aim was to rid the wizarding world of Muggle heritage, and to conquer both worlds, Muggle and Wizarding, so that he may achieve pure blood dominance. He was the supreme ruler of the Death Eaters, a group of wizards and witches dedicated to ridding the Wizarding World of Muggles as per our ruler implies.
