There was this god named Balder. He was INCREDIBLY handsome. All the gods loved him. All except Loki. When Balder started having dreams about his death, all the gods were very worried. So, Frigg, goddess of motherhood & growth made everything swear not to hurt him - everything EXCEPT mistletoe. "It's only a small plant. It doesn't even have it's own roots!" said Frigg. When Frigg came back someone chucked a stone at Balder's head. It did not harm him. "AWSOME!" said Balder. Whilst everyone was having fun tossing deadly objects at Balder, Loki shifted into an old woman and went to Frigg. "Why is everyone tossing deadly objects at that man?" said Loki. "It's my son. I made everything swear not to hurt him. Everything except mistletoe." said Frigg. When she looked up the old woman was gone. Loki travelled to Midgard and plucked a mistletoe off a tree and shaped it into an arrow. He got back to Asgard and asked Balder's blind brother, Hod: "why are you not playing?" "I am blind" replied Hod "here, take this twig and I will direct you" said Loki. "OK" said Hod. Loki directed Hod and when he let the arrow go it killed Balder. Loki fled. They chained Hod but they knew it was Loki. When one of Odin's sons went to Hel to ask for Balder Hel said for everyone to weep for him. Everything wept for Balder exept a giant (that was Loki). So all the gods burnt Balder's body but their grief was so bad they couldn't lift him so they asked a giant (that was NOT Loki) to burn Balder. That was the end for their lovely Balder.
