During her Hogwarts years, Bellatrix Black was a member of Tom Riddle's gang. The older sister of Andromeda and Narcissa, Bellatrix married to fellow gang member Rodolphus Lestrange. She did not care much for Rodolphus, never even mentioning him in conversations. Her true affections belonged to Voldemort, and she received much of her training in the Dark Arts from him, making her a master duelist. She remained loyal to Voldemort between the wars, and was sent to Azkaban. Accepting her punishment royally, she knew she would receive high status among the Death Eaters. Sure enough, she became respected to some degree by even the Dark Lord himself. She called herself his most loyal follower, and this statement is arguably the truth. She, her husband, his brother Rastaban, and Barty Crouch Jr. particpated in the torturing of famous Aurors and Order members Alice and Frank Longbottom, Neville Longbottom's parents.  Bellatrix was vicious enough that both Aurors were driven to insanity.The foursome were then sentenced to Azkaban for life. Breaking out, Bellatrix killed cousin Sirius Black during the Battle of the Prophecy. She also killed niece Nymphadora Tonks during the Battle of Hogwarts. She was the last Death Eater standing at the same battle, but was supposedly killed by Molly Weasley in a duel. She may have escaped, and it is rumored she returned to Little Hangleton Graveyard in an attempt to reunite the living Death Eaters. Her status is generally regarded as deceased.
