Eeylops Owl Emporium was pretty big but really loud and Harry hated it. Crows and Ravens were rattling the cages as owls hooted at them in a way that made Harry think they were telling the other animals to shut up. "Well this is exciting." Remus said nodding stiffly. Sirius just sighed and looked at the new Pygmy Puffs. "Wish I could have one." he muttered and James punched him in the shoulder. "What was that for?" Sirius asked as the owner of the shop came out. "Hello dears." she was an old woman but looked nice enough. "Um, hello." Harry said as the old lady looked at him. She asked "What would you like dear?" and Harry bit his lip, looking around the room. "How bout an owl Harry?" James suggested. "To send owls." Harry shook his head. "I can use the school owls for that." Lily glanced at James with a slightly confused face but he just shrugged. "Then what are you getting?" Sirius asked. "Please don't let it be a Crow, I don't think anyone will get sleep..." Harry laughed. "I'm not getting a Crow don't worry!"
The old woman looked annoyed but said in her sweetest voice. "Go head dear, fine what'ch you want!" Harry scanned the shelves full of rats but they looked gross to him and he walked to the other side of the store. "Recken any of these are Peter?" Remus asked, smiling, to Sirius, who laughed James laughing with him. "Maybe." Lily said jokingly.
Harry found himself in a small corner of the shop with huge snakes and lizards in small tanks. 'Poor animals.' Harry thought. 'Not allowed more space.' a small pink snake caught his eye. "Hello there." he muttered to it. The snake didn't move, but flicked it's tongue out. "Hey mum?" Harry called over his shoulder. "Yes Harry?" Lily asked ans walked over, looking unsertenly at the snakes. Harry pointed at the pink snake. "Could I get him?" he asked as Sirius walked over. "Sure you bloody can, it's your birthday Harry!"
Harry smiled as Remus scolded Sirius for his 'bad language in front Harry'. James scrunched up his eyebrows when Harry brought the snake to the counter to buy. "Harry," James said like Harry was about to jump off a cliff. "are you sure you don't want an owl, I mean they're so useful and a snake..." Harry ran a hand through his own pink hair. "I want the snake dad. Hogwarts has owls and the snake cost less." James sighed and glanced at Sirius who was pretending to not be listening now that the whole money problem had come up. "You're right." Lily said and paid for the snake.

"Seven gallons isn't that bad Lily you could've let us pay..." Remus said on their way back home. "You payed for the ice cream mate, calm down." James said shaking his hand, grinning. Sirius walked over to stand next to Harry. "What are you go'en to name it Harry?" Harry bit his lip. Nothing important was coming to his mind so he decided on "Pink. The snakes names is Pink." Sirius ruffled Harry's hair like he did all the time. Harry ducked smiling. "Because of your hair or the color of the snake?" Sirius asked teasingly. "I still don't know why you went with pink hair, it could've been red like your mums or something."
