"I am the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic! You will let me go immediately, or the Minister will hear about this!" Dolores had regained her voice overnight, and was now very determined to make herself heard. One of the centaurs looked over at her with a disgusted eye. 

 "Quiet, human. You have no Minister to turn to here." Another centaur turned to her. He was more kind than the first.

 "What is your name, human?" 

 "Dolores."

 "Dolores, you must be having a rather trying time in our forest. I understand this must be hard for you, but-"

 "I will not accept sympathy from a half-breed such as yourself! And I do not need your excuses, either! I'll have the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures involved sooner or later, do you hear?"

 "The Department of what?" the first centaur spat. "Those idiotic humans know nothing of our race! Nothing! Their meddling, interfering ways have no relevance here!"

 "Aha," said Dolores, knowing she had touched a nerve and delighting in the fact. "But they can come after you. I will get them involved in this just as soon as I get out of here!"

 "Then," said the centaur sneering, "You will never get out of here."

 Following this statement, the centaur made a whistling call and about twenty other centaurs emerged from the trees, all armed with bows and arrows, and all wearing deadly smiles.
