It was a fine afternoon down in North Somercotes, UK. The fresh scent of blooming flowers roamed all throughout the village. The birds sang wonderful songs of spring and children's laughter filled the hearts of the locals. Practically anyone who ever went there stayed longer just to take the time to appreciate this amazing place. It was a quite quaint little village with many different interesting and colorful characters. Samuel Peter Wilson, a quiet 10 year old, was, however, never quite amused by all the activity happening down at the lakeside park at the end of his street. He never really had much friends and in a village where there are friendship parades every few weeks, it can't be easy. He has both a mother and father whom were raised in that very village as well and tend to really get into the activities organized. His mother, Olivia Ravenhill, is one of the only veterinarians in the village. Edgar Wilson, his father, is a music teacher for Sam's school. They have tried to get Sam to participate in the activities but he just wouldn't. One day, Sam finally admitted to his parents that he generally doesn't like people. It was hard for them to believe but that didn't change how much they loved their only son. They realized that maybe people aren't the answer to making him happier so, they decided to buy him a pet. While walking over to the Huet and Colins Pet Shop, they discovered an injured duckling near the lake and decided to help him. They brought him to the veterinarians as quickly as they could because his injury seemed very grave and painful. When they left with the duckling, they realized that he would be the perfect pet for Sam.
