Dumbledore'S Army

*In the process of being written, check back for updates* We must be prepared! Dumbledore's Army is a secret organization formed by students for students to learn proper magical methods of self defense and protection, rebel against the Death Eaters, Voldemort, the Ministry of Magic, and the Inquisitorial Squad's control at Hogwarts. The author, Gyffindor student Elizabeth Fraley, is the current leader of Dumbledore's Army (Club # 25685). This book goes over the history and origins of Dumbledore's Army, what we are currently doing, and what we are planning to do. It will also include spells that are taught in the group (many of which aren't taught at Hogwarts due to how dangerous and dark they are) and spells that have been created by members of Dumbledore's Army.

What Is Dumbledore'S Army?

Chapter 1

"Every great wizard in history has started out as nothing more than what we are now: students. If they can do it, why not us?"

-Harry Potter

Briefly, Dumbledore's Army (also referred to as D.A. or Defense Association) is a secret organization that was created by Hogwarts students to teach their fellow Hogwarts witches and wizards proper Defense Against the Dark Arts. The main intentions are to learn magical methods of self-defense, rebel against the Death Eaters, the Ministry of Magic, and the Inquisitorial Squad's control at Hogwarts.

During their first training session, Cho Chang created the name Defense Association. That name fit the intentions of their organization well but Ginny Weasley came up with a better idea. Ginny gave the group a pseudonym — "Dumbledore's Army" to frighten the Ministry officials, since they were incredibly frightened that Dumbledore was creating an army to overtake the Ministry.

"The Defense Association? The DA for short, so nobody knows what we're talking about?"
"Yeah, the DA's good. Only let's make it stand for Dumbledore's Army, because that's the Ministry's worst fear, isn't it?"

—Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley

During recruitment, leaders of the organization will set up recruitment meetings at the Hog's Head, a pub and inn in Hogsmeade. It is here that they will discuss the intentions of the group to interested Hogwarts students and ensure that they vow to secrecy. Once recruits have been approved to become members of Dumbledore's Army, meetings are held in secrecy in the Room of Requirement at least once a week. The Room of Requirement is located on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, opposite an enormous tapestry depicting Barnabas the Barmy attempting to train trolls in ballet. The Room of Requirement only shows itself to those who are in need of it, so only members with true intentions and loyalty to the organization can enter. Members are told when to meet through engravings on enchanted fake Galleons made by the leader.
