Savannah dumps her backpack in the carpeted hallway and proceeds to her room to doze after the long day. As she climbs the steep flight of stairs, she almost trips as her foot hits something like cardboard. She glances downward and finds a book with the year 2002-2003 titled on the side. She reaches down and picks it up, falling onto her bed to discover its contents. She gingerly opens the cover and realizes this is her mother’s high school yearbook. Having nothing else to do, Savannah walks back to her bedroom door and closes it, careful not to make a noise. She wasn't sure how this arrived near her room, but she was certain her mother wouldn't enjoy her snooping through her belongings. But by this points, Savannah feels so fed up with everything that she doesn't give a care. She scans through the pages, looking through the ancient pictures, with the intention of finding her mother. She finds her in one of the montages of the junior class. It was as if she was looking in a mirror as she gazed at her mother's picture. Long, caramel hair (before she bleached and chopped it off) with freckles (that she now covers with concealer every day). Just like how Savannah looks. Except for her eyes. Her mother's were an icy blue that could be rather frightening to look into, very unlike her own. Her mother flashes a perfect, charming smile while holding a National Honor Society certificate. Savannah turns the page where her eyes rest yet again on her mother, this time with a banner sporting “Best Couple”. Surprised, she glances down at the picture, one of a boy with tousled, sandy hair kissing her mother’s cheek, still flashing that perfect smile. Below the picture is the caption that reads the names Carla Wayne.

And Tyler Eaton.
