Room 213
Chapter 2
Sarah tightly grips the arms of the solid chair in the waiting room, trying her best to wait patiently. As the minutes tick by, she imagines the conversation unfolding in room 213. She knows she shouldn’t have gone behind Carla’s back in all of this, but it is what Savannah needs and deserves. Why did it seem as if she knew more of her niece's needs than her own mother did? Even just as Carla brought her home from the hospital at 17, Sara had always been Savannah's side - possibly even more than Carla. While Carla worked tirelessly to achieve the dream job, paying for her daughter's food and education, Sarah had provided more for Savannah's emotional needs as Carla never had. Now, Sarah tries to convince herself once again that what she is doing is the right thing. Savannah deserves to at least have the chance, even if she would never know the full truth. Besides, unfortunately, time is not on their side. She internally shudders as she realizes that they may have even less time than she originally thought.
