Emma gazed at James as he sat down next to her. "Here's to us," he said, handing her a drink. They were at the dance that was hosted this year by Mr.Kingston. His daughter, Lila Ann, was sitting in the corner, with her husband, Mr. Crawford. "You, know, I have something to ask you, Emma." He got down on one knee and reached into his pocket."Will you marry me?" Emma gasped. "Yes!"
