Chapter 3
I went to the window to see the jelly rain again. The jelly was now a tad bit bigger than before, maybe the size of a small piece of gravel, and I just hoped it didn’t get any bigger. I mean, a piece of gravel may have seemed small, but when it rains, it can rain fast and hard.
I stood up, aggravated, and got dressed. Then I brushed my teeth and tramped down the stairs.
When I got downstairs, I glanced at the clock. 6:37. Just on time. I thought about checking the weather bulletin to see if even the weather people had predicted this, or were even seeing this! But I decided that everyone would be gossiping anyways, and I’d probably hear about all the details anyways. And I’m sure that, like usual, Mrs. Flemming will be complaining and exaggerating about the jelly rain. And I am absolutely positive that Mr. Brimmers will be overly cheerful and try to get everyone to be more positive, which, at times, can be annoying.
I knew the rain hadn’t stopped because I could hear the continuous bing bong ping pong on the roof and window, and it was SO annoying. It would be a challenge for me not to literally scream and board up the windows…
I looked at the VERY LONG list of chores and errands I had to finish today, and the first was to go out and get groceries because we couldn’t on the weekdays. The local supermarket was just down the street, so I decided to go there.
I ate breakfast quickly (but it is necessary!) and headed toward the coat rack. I grabbed my favorite coat, a beige one with a skirt looking bottom. I also took my dad’s hardy black umbrella, the strongest out of all the umbrellas on the rack. Then I slipped on a pair of sturdy rain boots and rushed out the door.
