Chapter 5
As Andra walked inside, she wondered what the Principal looked like. Was he a furry monster with Green hair and Orange fangs? Or maybe he was a Demon with pale skin and glowing Red eyes. Whatever he looked like, Andra was not prepared to come face to face with a regular man with a nice suite and kind features. He smiled. “Hello Andra,” he said. “I'm Principal Luis, nice to meet you.” He held out his hand. Andra shook it. “Nice to meet you too sir.” She answered politely. Principal Luis’s face slowly turned to a frown. “You understand you have broken a very serious law just now, correct?” He interrogated. Andra nodded, “Yes sir, but I only said it to come inside your office. I need to talk to you, and no one would answer the door. My sister Marie was said to have commited suicide, but she didn’t! She was murdered.” Principal Luis furrowed his eyebrows. “Murdered, how so?” Andra answered him quickly. “The Vice Principal said she jumped off of the top of the building, but there is no way she could have gone up there without passing through the top floor. She would have needed an escort, and unless he or she was a murderer, they would have stopped Marie from jumping off!” Principal Luis seemed to be thinking it over. “Hmmm, that does make sense. I’ll need to look into it.” Andra almost jumped for joy. “So you’re going to help?” Principal Luis smiled. “Of course! I should know who is responsible for killing my students.” Andra cleared her throat. “Where do you want to start?” she asked him. “Oh, I don’t know. Probably the top floor.” He suggested. “I will escort you, so you don’t need to worry about rebel escorts trying to murder you.” Principal Luis clarified. Andra nodded. “Thank you,” she said. Luis took her upstairs to the top floor and put in the Password. The door opened and they went inside. Andra could see white floors, white tables, white chairs, you name it. Even the people inside were wearing white lab coats. As Andra looked around, she spotted machines, and small children. If she could count age, Andra would have said they were between 1 and 3 years old. But Andra could not count age, so she had no idea how old they were. “What are the scientists doing with the children?” Andra asked Principal Luis. “They are testing the children too\o find their common interests, to see what club they belong in,” he answered. Andra looked up at him. “So this is where-”
“Yes” he interrupted her. “Yes, this is where the testing is held. You must not tell a soul, can you promise me that?” he asked her. Andra nodded firmly. “Yes, I promise.” Principal Luis smiled. “Good,” he replied. “Are you ready to see the Elevator?” He asked. Andra nodded. She wasn’t sure what an elevator was exactly, but she was eager to find out. As they went into the small room with buttons, the principal asked her another question. “Do you remember how outside is filled with monsters and darkness?” He pushed a button. Andra nodded. “Yes, why?” The door closed. “Because they aren't real. If people wander outside, their loved ones would get worried and yell at them. That creates conflict, so I designed simulations. Digital monsters that feel and look real, but are really fake to prevent everyone from going outside. What you are about to see is something completely different.” Andra wondered what the world really looked like when the room, the Elevator, stopped moving and the door opened. When Andra stepped outside, she held in a breath. Below her, was the most breathtakingly beautiful sight she has ever seen. Above her was the bright blue sky, and she saw hills, valleys, flowers, grass. “It’s just like the land in my stories,” she breathed. She then remembered the Principal was there with her, but he was on the other side of the roof and seemed to not hear her. She let out a sigh of relief. Principal Luis turned back to her. “You just sit back and relax,” he told her. “I’m older and more experienced, so I’ll do the investigating.” Andra nodded, “okay.” She wanted to help, but she couldn’t disagree with the Principal of all people. Andra enjoyed her next few pleasant hours. She saw what was called a Sunset, where the sky turned to different shades of pink, purple, orange, yellow, and red. She then experienced what it was like to see Stars.
