Chapter 28
I looked around. The cell that we were in was pretty tiny; and through the bars, I could see a door.
“Well great,” said Cress, looking even more annoyed now. “What are we supposed to do?”
“This is probably the second ‘level’ of the escape room,” I said, and started looking on the wall for any hidden compartments or something. Jake and Cress did the same.
After 10 or so minutes of searching, we stopped. “I can’t find anything,” reported Jake, frowning. “How much time do we have left?”
I glanced at my watch. “We spent about 7 minutes in the first one, and it’s been about 9 here. So that gives us 14 more minutes.”
“We’re never going to get out of here-” said Cress, then abruptly stopped. “I am quite sure that that lever over there,” she pointed behind me, “was in fact not there when I searched that wall for clues.”
I stood there for a second, contemplating our options. “We’ve really got no choice,” I said, and walked over to the lever. I looked at my friends, and pulled it down.
