Before the reaping
Chapter 1
I woke up that morning feeling refreshed, before I realised what day it was. Reaping day. Of course, my brother Haymitch had already won, and so I was living in his Victors House, but my name was still in the bowl, there was still a small chance of me getting chosen. That thought was in the back of my head all day, no matter how much Haymitch tried to reassure me.
I got up and trudged into the kitchen/dining room and made breakfast. I couldn't eat much, though Haymitch was the opposite, eating a full banquet while I slowly ate my bowl of porridge oats. I glared at him, getting a confused expression and a "What?"
After breakfast, I got dressed. Even though Haymitch said I wouldn't get chosen, he still made me dress up fancy "Because you never know," He told me. I got out a light green dress, not similar to Primrose Everdeen's blue dress from 2 years ago, and put it on. Then I brushed my hair, in it's natural curls, and put a white bow in it. Me and Haymitch had a plan for just in case I was chosen - act like a cute little girl that doesn't know anything at the training, then in the private show off my talents a little more, then in the arena, when everyone underestimates me, 'unleash my full potential', as Haymitch said.
Then it was time to go. My stomach full of butterflies and my head spinning, I set off to the reaping....
